Read the VJ Guide for Adjustment of Status. (tab found at the top of the page) It will take you through the entire process. If you do some reading and studying before you begin I expect that the AOS will go smoothly.

Go here to read up on what is needed per the VJ FAQ list: http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-aos.html

Some of the supporting documents you will need for the I-864 are a letter from your sponsor (spouse) from his employer stating his income and position for this year. The last three years of tax returns are suggested, last year's tax return is required. I would call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and follow the prompts for requesting a tax transcripts for the last three years. Takes about 5 minutes and you will receive the transcripts in usually 5 days (assuming your spouse has not moved since the returns were filed).

Do not forget the photo copy of you pasport bio page and the enty stamp, a copy of front and back of the I-94, a certified copy of your marriage license (a copy is not good enough, it must be an official copy obtained from the county where you got married), a copy of your birth certificate with translation, a copy of your I-797C Notice of Action approving the K-1 petition, another G-325, and two passport photos to be included with the forms you are submitting. Photos showing the relationship (3-5 if you have them) could also be included at this time, but not necessary.

Hope this helps,

Dave
