my fiance is a marine, and of course im iranian,we still dont have our second notice of action, but i have a feeling his job will be a question at our interview ( which is,beyond scary to me at the moment, the interview that is :bonk: ).

so i thought maybe we could get letter of approval from our parents, with a copy of an ID or birth certificate and present that if asked in the embassy ( we are with ankara ).however my mom thinks we should get it done through a government based office,i on the other hand dont agree.

when you take paperwork for translation in iran, they do take them to the department of justice themselves ( the translating office ) and get it stamped and all, would that be enough?

am i panicking and over thinking everything?

what else do you suggest to bring,we have never been married, never divorced, never over stayed or even visited states, never arrested, its a really clean and easy case, but still,i wanna minimize the possibility of an AP or 221G.

TIA

yes,in each and every way,and to prove it to the consulate im going to get a police certificate ,while its not required for iranian petitioners.

i just wanna prove that i do want and deserve my visa, without coming off as too needy ( which i am in this case  )

Here are my two cents:

Religion and his job will be significant items at the interview. I assume you're a Muslima and he's a Christian? Am I correct? If so, the CO in Ankara will know the cultural norms that you're engaged to a man who is of a different religion and that "traditionally" muslimas are not allowed to marry outside of their religion. They might want to know how your parents feel about all of this - that is if your parents are alive, or involved in your life. Also, because he is in the military could be a significant factor.

Please prepare yourself with a thoughtful response - not some - "oh those don't matter to me at all." Well, culturally, they should and they'll probably want to do a little digging.

i appreciate your response, thats the main reason we decided to come up with approval letters.

what im planning to say is nothin but the honest truth,i was raised believing nothing can decrease one's humanity, jobs ,religions, cultures, nationality, nothing should matter when one is a solid and morally correct human being with a good head on their shoulder.and i believe my fiance is worth the hassle.

now i dont know whether or not my answer would come off as harsh or trying to cover something, but thats what im planning to say and trying to prepare myself for.

what do you think?

plus is it safe to say the job thing will be more of a subject since A) muslim none muslim marriages arent that common but not completely uncommon and B) there is no religion related question in the paperwork?keep in mind im not a traditional muslim and i dont wear hijab or anything else that could cause them to think the religion thing could be a problem

don't panic!! I feel like you are some how torturing yourself with thinking so negatively! Relax... you are not the first Iranian who is getting married to a Christian American, who happened to be in military.

No need to take the police certificate because they won't even ask for it. It will be just a tiring trip to Police+1 in Tehran for you and an extra expense for translation.

The things that they do not care are: His job - age differences - religion - confirmation form parents or any body

The things that they do care are: Your job - if you have met before - financial support - medical examination papers and all the other forms which should be filled in accurately and honestly - your photos and evidence of your relationship.

Be in touch with the Iranians who have had interview in Ankara or are in the waiting list, then you'll feel much better! I'm here also, although my interview was in Abu Dhabi.

Good Luck!

ok, that's much better! I mean being unemployed is much better because it would make your chance of going through an AP much lower!
