Bringing prescribed medicatons from foreign country.

My fiance has to take daily medications prescribed by a Dr. for his stomach. He wants to bring a few months supply with him when he comes friday. Has anyone had any experience with bringing meds through customs. It is a medicine that is readily available in the USA, pretty cheaply, I might add. He has a note from his Dr that he takes it and what it is for. Is that sufficient?

I came for a 3 month visit and enough meds to last me that long, they didn't even ask me about it.

As long as its in a proper prescription bottle with the label still on, it shouldn't be a problem. Unless its a liquid or gel of course, then you may have to check with the airline to find out if it can be checked.

As long as the prescription is in the pharmacy bottle, with your fiance's name on the label, there should be no problems.

He could also put them in his suitcase.

Thanks for your reply. Actually one of his meds is in a liquid form, and I told him to put it in his checked luggage Also to put half of his bottles of pills in his luggage and half in his carry on. It is just 4 bottles of pills of each medicine I think.

I bought 6 months worth of meds over without a problem. As long as they are in the containers with your fiance's name on them, shouldn't be a problem.

Even tho they rarely ask for it. you are supposed to have a letter from you doctor verifying that he has prescribed the medication for you

I have travelled many times but only once have I been asked for the doctors letter

If you bring the prescriptions with you it's evidence that they're legit... I brought a two-year supply of my asthma medicine with me (four boxes because I don't use it a lot) and just put the prescription in with it... nobody ever even asked what it was.
