My fiancée has scheduled her interview at Montreal for late January. For her medical exam, she wishes to be examined by a female doctor. Does anyone who has had their medical done in either Toronto or Montreal know if a female doctor may be requested for the medical?

Phone both places and ask - you don't honestly have a choice, we'd all prefer to be examined by a female Dr but it's not big deal. They're professionals and as the poster above mentioned - the Dr does very little of it - in Toronto most of mine was done by a female nurse, as was my 15 yr old daughter's...they were quite sensitive to that fact for her.

When I had my medical in Toronto Dr. Seiden did the vitals checks (blood pressure, lungs, etc), and everything that involved "showing skin" was done by a female. I would imagine that is fairly common practice. On this particular day, Dr. Seiden and the female medical student he was training were the only ones conducting the examinations, so I don't think there would be an opportunity for much choice.

Not that anyone asked my opinion, but a medical professional is a medical professional, regardless of their gender. I guess I don't see what the big deal is.
