Yes. Many people have done this fine. Whether the office you choose allows walk-ins, and is okay with you going to them instead of your actual appointment though, depends on the ASC itself. Can't hurt to try...

I tried an early walk-in biometrics in Atlanta and they wouldn't do it because they didn't have my file. I had to wait till I got back home "Wisconsin" to do it. I don't know if that's a standard procedure when it comes to doing things at other sercive centers instead of your local uscis. You may have a better luck.

I think they twisted the truth there a bit - they don't have your file there for biometrics, they're there to capture picture and fingerprints (all digital, nothing printed and put in your file but sent electronically to whoever needs to run it - IBIS, FBI...), not to adjudicate your file so file is not needed.

I have succesfully gone to an ASC that was closer to me in IL vs the one they wanted me to go to in IN and I had no problems - this was for my N400 - I did have to relay what the military helpline told me that as a military family member I can go to any ASC and they had no issues with them.

Agreed. The person completely lied to you :S They scan the barcode on the biometrics appointment letter. Then your info "pops up" on the screen. You double check it's okay. They scan your prints, enter your info, take a photo and done. It's all electronically sent, no file required.

I've read about a few people having no issues going to other offices. what mean liars :S Maybe they thought you meant interview? Maybe the person at the door had no idea?

I kinda figured the guy was BSing me but I didn't want to argue with him since my biometric appointment said to go to my local ASC center and the address on my appointment was in Milwaukee. He could have done it for me without any problem but at the same time they had the right not to do it. The OP may run into someone having a better day than I did. I'm not sure if the OP can argue if they say no.
