What does it mean adjusted gross income?

Hi Guys,

What does it mean adjusted gross income? Is it my annual salary or whatever is left after they take

away taxes?

Adjusted Gross Income is gross income (combining from all source of income) and subtracting the income tax code's enumerated deductions.

Personal Exemptions, Standard/Itemized deductions etc. are subtracted from AGI to compute the taxable income.

For all intents and purposes your full annual salary is stated as your current income. Only if you filed a 1040EZ would the adjusted gross come into play. Even then, the number is very near the same as the gross in most cases.
