i'm baking sweet potatoes in butter, brown sugar and honey. I hope they turn out ok.

they should turn out fine. when I baked those sweet potatoes last week I just melted the butter first and poured it over the potatoes before putting them in the oven. everyone loved them!

I really need to get my butt in gear. I'm sitting here trying to type up all this lab stuff I've done so I can turn it in for review next week and I can't focus. I just end up cliking on something else and going back to it every few mins.

I'm doing that right now instead of staying on VJ. I check the horses for sale ads a few times a day.

Dang, John. I'm looking for a 16 to 17 hand high TB...3 to 15 years old. I'm noticing some are going real cheap here cos of the economy, but the free horses are old or something is wrong with them medically. :crying: :crying: :crying: . I'm not sure if Michigan has kill pens. Auctions, yes. Would like to rescue, but not to spend tons of money on vet and supplements/special diets in case they are underweight or whatever.

I think it is illegal to kill them for meat anywhere in the U.S. I know it is in Texas!!! :thumbs:

well, the thing is, at acutions there are the meat BUYERS. The auctioneer knows every one of these savages. The 'meat' horses are the ones not wearing halters and are usually brought in last and in groups. These BUYERS buy by the pound. They don't care what condition the horse in in . The horses are sadly shipped off to Canada or Mexico for slaughter. The meat is sold/exported to Europeans who love their horsemeat. Some is made into dog food.

Imagine the old, sick and injured travelling those long distances without food or water in a cramped truck FORCED to stand the entire time ! Not to mention how stressed out they are. If this were done to humans, it would be considered criminal. :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry:

Sadly, a very small percentage of people are trying to help rescue these poor animals. Won't you ?

Auctions : some people believe that if they take their horse to these places that they will be adopted out to a nice loving home. Instead, they end up being bought by meat BUYERS and off to the slaughter house they go. The very young, the old, the healthy as well as the sick.

I can post some videos of horse slaughter. I ask anyone to watch and see what actually goes on.
