lots of houseguests but I think everyone is settled. my grandfather broke a 50" tv earlier and went and bought a 13" tv to replace it. I can't stop laughing because there is a 13" tv in an entertainment center for a 50" tv. it looks so funny. my laptop screen is bigger than that stupid little tv. I will buy a new one once he is gone

I was just cater wrapping everything and labeling it and putting DO NOT EAT, DO NOT REHEAT, etc on everything. I have to do that because my grandfather thinks holidays start at like 3am when he wakes up and tries to cook everything for like 10hrs or has his appetizers at 5am and eats stuff. then I wake up to put everything in and stuff is half gone or burnt. so I was just telling suz some hilarious stuff my grandfather has done. mainly all stories with him involve the food. he bugs everyone so much to help and then screws it up and blames it on us. one year he bugged us so much we told him he could chop the veggies for a soup. the recipe which has been used in our family for probably 30 years specifically says to mince all the veggies. it's a pain in the azz but it makes a huge difference at the end. anyways, he chopped everything really huge and used 1lb of butter instead of 1 stick of butter. then when we were freaking out and trying to fix it, he got mad at us and told us it was "german style".

anyone have any funny family holiday stories?

No rain here, Amby. It is just freaking COLD. I suspect we should be seeing snow soon. Last year it did snow in November a few times.

they said mix of snow/rain tomorrow night and friday morning for us. because of the stupid weather I now have 15 extra guests. I wish I could have known more than 18hrs before, but that's ok too. we'll work it out. I sent my mom to buy more plates as her punishment cos I only have 35 place settings.

That sounds like fun, not punishment.

Snow and rain mix....i'm sure it will drift on over here at some point. I'm just glad i'm not going anywhere.

Gumby fixed my ad muncher thingy. I'm surprised cos he fixes everyone else's pc's and it is like pulling teeth to even have him consider looking at mine. Anyway, I'm happy now.

Amby, what time will you be getting up to cook tomorrow ? I'm going to start around 9-10 am.

I'm going to get up early to put the turkey in and then go back to bed until 9 or 10. I have almost everything else ready to go into the oven or whatever else needs to be done with it. The fridges are organized and labeled so everything will be pulled out in the order I need it to go in the oven. I'm a little nutso when it comes to planning a lot of food being finished at the same time. The only thing I have to do is finish this weird cranberry thing my grandma asked me to make for her. It has splenda and sugar, cranberries, oranges, cherry jello, apples, walnuts, celery, crushed pineapple  I was like #######?

I don't like it either. One year I tried to be festive and make eggnog bread and I wanted to barf. Oh and I bought candy for my advent thing the other day and there was eggnog ones in the ghirardelli holiday candy thing. I threw those away.

Yay advent calendars! I love to buy a few of the cheap ones and just eat them in one sitting. I love that cheap, fake chocolate. Yet I hate egg nog... hahahaha.

I like it. It has little doors to open for each day. It's kinda like this one but it's black and no chimney or weird lil pine cones and the doors are a dark red and a dark green color.
