I think either it is because of my passport ( has stamps from Egypt ) or that I did not take Gumby's last name, and Gumby is, of course, Egyptian. But who knows what and why they do things the way they do. I am outraged that, as a USC, I get treated like a criminal by the US border officers.

Hello people! My house smells like cinnamon and sugar and all sorts of yummy stuff. Started prepping early and still have a lot of stuff to get ready. I won't be putting the turkey in the sauna to thaw it out quicker  Now I just need to get my house elf to bring in some firewood.

JLA - I tried watching The Time Traveler's Wife and couldn't even get through it. It's funny you mentioned it because I got a bunch of movies from the library on Monday and that was one of the ones I checked out. I thought I would try to give it a second chance!

Amby, I did some prep work, also. A lot of chopping and getting out the good dishes, etc.

I need to pull the dishes out of the closet under the stairs. Last year I said if we're going to start this new tradition then we're also going to start eating off of real plates instead of those divided styrofoam ones. I understand why we did it when there was 100+ people but when there's only 30 people and there's 3 dishwashers in this house, we can eat off of real plates.

...and...an odd and VERY RARE thing happened when AAm left the house a few minutes ago to run up to the Asian Market...she asked me if I wanted her to pick me up some beer on the way back! :wow:

That has only happened once in the almost 4 years she's been in the USofA!

This new behavior of hers must be encouraged

Nope, but I have a Nexus card. I always say it's the best $50 I ever spent. On Friday, the only question the American side asked me was "Anything to declare?" So much for crazy terrorist concerns. The Canadian side is non-verbal so you rarely have to speak to anyone. Of the maybe 11 times I've crossed back into Canada with my Nexus card, only twice has the Canadian side bothered to even talk to me, and all they want to know is if I had anything to declare.

If you cross often, it's totally worth the $50!
