I got a txt from my wife and daughter saying that I needed to check out the moon so I went out of the hotel to check it out...but, unfortunately and as usual, you can't see the moon in Michigan because of all the clouds

Sunday is going good for me. I'm watching the news, drinking some coffee, and printing some stuff to write up a paper that's due tomorrow. What are you up to?

I had an interesting experience this morning. On the way to work each day this week I have been driving by a 'mega church'. So, this morning I went to 8am mass at a Catholic Church that I'd also seen. However, after mass as I was driving back to the hotel I drove past the mega church and saw that it appeared to be in session. There were thousands of cars out front! So, I pulled over and went inside. The place was HUGE and looked like a mall. Inside, there was a plethora of Christian shops on each side of the mall/mega church entrance. But, after working my way past the 'Christian shoppers', I did find the auditorium where the service was being held...which was like a concert hall for a rock stadium. There was a band already playing by the time I got there, and it was indeed like a rock concert...complete with light show and lasers and three massive overhead projectors/screens. I found a seat. The concert went on for about 20 minutes, and then there was an interupted by some guy who was live on the massive overhead screen. It was a new member of their congregation who said he'd just found God when he suffered a stroke and couldn't golf anymore. He said the Lord saved him, and returned him to golf and he was able to hit a hole in one Then they cut from the big screen to a corner of the stage and they rolled out a large hottub sort of device and...well...I guess they baptised him...they dunked him! Then the band and audience went crazy for another 5-10 minutes or so. Then, the preacher came out (dressed like a cowboy, sans 10 gallon hat) and said a prayer (accompanied by the band) and then immediately called for the $collection$ and prayed for a large booty while the band continued to back him up! After the collection, the band rocked out again as the preacher announced that one of the shops in the mall section of the mega church was having a shirt sale! He even brought out the shop keeper and they displayed their wares and put a price list up on the big screen...OneDaySaleOnly: all Christian T-Shirts $12.99! Then, they had a 'ticket announcement/sale' for some special band performing this upcoming Thursday. Following the collection/shirt sale/ticket sale, a highly overdressed lady came out and started preaching some sort of 'prosperity gospel'. Anyways, about that time I just couldn't take anymore...so I just got up and got out.

It was just too weird for me. After this 'experience' I better understand why the deeply spiritual Eastern religions look at Western Christianity and think, "#######" <haha> I also understand why guys like LI absolutely are against organized religion...

So, that was the start of my day!
