Good Morning Commies,

My daughter, May, who as you all know immigrated here just last year, is doing great in 9th grade. She's an A student

Right now I am helping her with an assignment from her English Lit class. She has to complete a Poetry Analysis Worksheet. The author of this particular piece of poetry is The Verve. Do you guys remember that song from about a few years back?

English lit must have changed since the invention of the music video. We didn't have anything cool like this when I was in 9th grade While I don't disagree with this possible point of trying to make English Lit more relevant to today's kids, I still think they should suffer through Robert Frost and Hemmingway as well (even if they won't be able to make sense of any of that until they're much older)...

Great news about your daughter. :thumbs: I can't believe that they have to do a song by The Verve. There was a movement among the more hip elements in these parts to introduce more contemporaneous material into the curricula in the 70s and 80s but it seems to have fallen to fiscal restraints. Hemingway? Nobody wants to read a ####### and bull story by a former reporter for the Toronto Star. Frostie? All he complains about is stopping in the woods to take a leak. :rofl:

I'm feeling slightly better today but still crappy. I'm watching Lorenzo's Oil on Oprah's channel We were talking about ALD in class a few weeks ago and I'd never seen this movie before. I was flipping through the channels and thought I should watch it while attempting to do hw.

I finished everything! This med school thing is seriously kicking my ####. I'm so tired all the time and studying all this stuff makes me wonder if I'm tired because of heart failure, mitochondrial myopathy, or lack of sleep

Now I just need someone else to Bieber so I can make myself laugh

Dunno what made me wake up initially. Once I was awake I saw the strobe light lightening. Then I heard the sirens. Then finally I heard the storm. Dunno how long it actually was but it seemed like forever!

At least today is just biometrics not an interview. I may still fall asleep waiting for them to finish with Benny though.

My dog woke me up in a tizzy during the storm. The rain was pounding on the side of the house and it was a bit scary. You would have thought the rain would have melted all this snow, but when I looked out this morning, there it was in all it's glory.

Lady that did the biometrics told Benny she had to mark that he had gray hair even though there's only a few strands LOL
