Hello guys,

I have a friend from Turkey.He is thinking about joining the military service and getting the citizenship.We really dont know how it works,or if he can apply when he is on a tourist visa??Are there any other requirements?

Sorry, but he needs to be a greencard holder in order to join the military. Once he is that, his citizenship can be expedited.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

I really didnt know he needed to be greencard holder.Once you have the greencard after certain amount time you have a chance to be citizen,no need to join the service for citizenship.I thought,as a non-us citizen,and as not a greend card holder,you have a chance to join the military,after certain amount of time,they give you the citizenship.Ohh,well maybe I am mistaken :blink: Thanks again!

My hubby is looking into the same thing, not just to get his citizenship faster but also for paid job training. You must be a green card holder to join the US military. Usually after six months of service you are eligible for citizenship, which beats the normal three year wait for US citizen spouses.
