Hi

My boyfriend and I are filing the K1 visa. I've read that the phone records are important to have during the interview to show the proof of ongoing relationship. But the problem is that my boyfriend is in the military and he will be deployed soon in another country and maybe he wont be having his cp there to use. We used skype to talk everyday. I wonder if Skype phone records are enough to show proof. Is not having a phone record to show later will give us problem in getting our visa?

I'm glad there's a website like this cuz we can learn a lot from here. It's somewhat complicated to understand everything since my boyfriend and I don't know so much about this whole thing. We are learning from your real experiences. Thank you.

Hi Rain! Welcome to VisaJourney! ^_^

Like you, my fiance is in the military and we mostly communicate online. Skype phone records should suffice, you can also take screenshots of your chat conversations. When we submitted our application, I just printed out our emails, chat logs, and screenshots of our iphone ym conversations. Even Facebook! :) Just make sure to include at least one per month to show continuity in your relationship. He submitted our package to their unit's legal office and they said it's good to go :)

You don't need any phone, chat, email or other ongoing relationship evidence for your initial filing. Also please indicate your beneficiary country. You can accumulate logs for the interview, but they may not be important depending on what consulate you'll be at. If you can't do Skype and other, just send snail mail and keep records.

Are you a filipina? Yea, skype is our way of communication and we text each other sometimes too. We are planning to print out our chat logs and our emails too and we will be doing handwritten letters as well. I hope those are enough proof already. We will be submitting our papers next week. Good luck to us. :) Good luck to your papers too.

When we submitted ours initially, we didn't include a lot of evidences. Just a couple of pictures together along with the forms. We submitted it to their military unit legal office inside the camp but he was requested to put in more evidences. So we gathered more phone, chats, email transcripts, airline tickets, hotel receipts, etc and included it in the package. That's when the lady from legal told him it's good to go. So I guess it doesn't hurt to put in more than what is needed. Saves you from worrying about RFEs too. Also as you said, it depends on the consulate if they're gonna look at it at the interview. But doesnt hurt to be prepared :)

Yeah your situation was unique.

OP's situation requires only basic data as requested in initial petition. No logs, no relationship evidence. Many consulates don't care about this even at the interview stage--although some do. We still need consulate locale info.

It's not so unique to me as what you are implying. Seeing she is from the same country as me, I think my situation is not so different from her. Besides, this info can also be found on the K1 Checklist in this link: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

I've taken this excerpt:

For Item 6 in the I-129F Package Checklist:

Documentary Proof of Having Met in Person in the Past Two Years and an Ongoing Relationship:

Use as many of these items are possible. There is no minimum, but the more you can provide the less likely you are that you will receive an RFE. Additionally, please note that providing proof of your ongoing and genuine relationship in this package may benefit you by allowing the consulate to have access to this information prior to them formally contacting the non US Citizen fiance. Many high risk consulates approach cases with a skeptical eye and providing this information early on in the original I-129F package will help them in their preliminary review of your case.

Welcome, I submitted my K-1 packet on October 1st of 2010. I`ve never called my fiances cell phone or maybe just once. We did all of our talking over YM and skype. I sent in every page of our skype call records since this past May. It was about 250 calls. I also sent in some YM chat conversation. It`s better to send in to much info rather than not enough. Where in the Phils are you living ?

If you include actual e-mails or chat messages (whether at this K-1 petition stage or at the later consular stage), be certain that you don't call each other "husband" or "wife" anywhere, even affectionately or in jest, for obvious reasons.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi

My boyfriend and I are filing the K1 visa. I've read that the phone records are important to have during the interview to show the proof of ongoing relationship. I'm glad there's a website like this cuz we can learn a lot from here. It's somewhat complicated to understand everything since my boyfriend and I don't know so much about this whole thing. We are learning from your real experiences. Thank you.

Wow congrats sa inyo ng husband mo! You are finally together now. Now I see that having or not having the phone records wont affect the application of the visa, right? But we are starting to keep all our calls we made in Skype just in case we will be needing them later for the interview. I'm really so happy for you Sally :)

Just an FYI

SKYPE only keeps phone records for 6 months. However if you have 6 months of records I would think that would be enough.

Thanks Sorine!

Hi all :)

With the phone records Me and my fiance were using a company previous to our engagement which we have no proof of as i no longer have the phone that the calls were made to. Since our engagement we have been using a company called Rebtel which gives you a local number tocall which makes calls to and from America cheaper so we use this. Would the call record from Rebtel be sufficient?

Secondly we talk just about every day with video calls on MSN how would i prove that?

We also email each other everyday at least once also!

Any advice??
