What do you think: Is it more 'risky' to travel to the US now that we have the NOA2?

Hey :)

I just wanted to ask for your opinion regarding a travel to the US after NOA2 has been issued. Do you think the fact that we're so close to the K1 will make a difference?

I travelled to the US in June and everything went fine and I still have ties (a job and I'm currently enrolled in college).

K1- Timeline

May 27, 2010 - I-129F sent

June 3, 2010 - NOA1

June 8, 2010 - touched

October 15, 2010 - touched

October 22, 2010 - got our NOA2 in the mail, date on NOA2 October 14, 2010

October 27, 2010 - our case left NVC

November 01, 2010 - US Consulate sent Packet 3

November 04, 2010 - received Packet 3

I traveled to the US after my NOA2. Just bring a big stack of evidence of ties to Germany, and copies of your NOA1, NOA2, and Packet3 if you have it by then, and you should be fine.

Just be honest with the customs and immigration people - saying that you're visiting your fiance, and it'll be fine. If it makes you feel better and is reasonably priced, try to route your flight through Dublin so you clear US Immigration on your side of the Atlantic, in case there are any snags. But I'm sure, if you bring proof of ties and your immigration paperwork, that it'll be fine. Lots of people visit during the process, even from VWP countries.

DON'T PANIC

Flying through an airport close by with US Immigration and Customs on hand is a good option, as if you end up being denied once arriving in the USA, you are fully responsible for the cost of your immediate trip back. If you bring enough evidence (letter from employer, NOA1, NOA2, lease agreement, phone contract, any other future commitments that can be documented, etc) you should be totally fine. They are usually pretty accommodating if you are honest and prepared.
