NVC: What is Checklist??

Ok, so I have read it so many times on this forms where users say they sent their DS-230 and received a checklist. What is this checklist?

I have sent my AOS forms + Docs and DS-230 plus civil docs. Is there anything else?

CSC - IR1


  • 04/01/2010: I-130 mailed out
  • 04/04/2010: I-130 received (Priority Date)
  • 04/15/2010: I-130 Hard copy received in mail
  • 08/26/?2010: I-130 Approved (Confirmed by phone)
  • 08/29/2010: Received NOA 2 Hard Copy

NVC


  • 09/16/2010: NVC generated case number
  • 10/04/2010: I-864 AOS review fee ($88) paid online
  • 10/05/2010: DS-3032 COA emailed to NVC
  • 10/06/2010: I-864 AOS status 'PAID',
  • 10/07/2010: AOS package mailed out
  • 10/12/2010: I-864 AOS package delivery
  • 10/15/2010: DS-3032 COA Accepted / DS-230 IV fee ($404) online payment
  • 10/18/2010: DS-230 IV status 'PAID'
  • 10/19/2010: IV package mailed out
  • 10/20/2010: AOS package entered into NVC system / DS-230 IV package delivery
  • 10/29/2010: DS-230 IV package entered into NVC system
  • 11/08/2010: NVC completion
  • 11/09/2010: Sign In Failed
  • 11/19/2010: Interview date scheduled

Consulate:


  • 11/30/2010: Medical
  • 12/06/2010: VFS visit
  • 12/13/2010: Interview at 8:45AM - APPROVED!!!!!
  • 12/20/2010: Pickup passport at VFS office
  • 12/24/2010: POE - SFO

I-130 filing to Interview 256 days OR 8 months, 12 days OR, 7344 hours OR 440,640 minutes OR 26,438,400 seconds

N-400 (based on 3-year marriage rule)

You'll get a checklist only if an RFE is generated. An RFE is a "Request for Evidence", this is sent to you if there is information missing or incomplete. We got our checklist 2 weeks after they received our DS-230 and I-864 and the RFE was for the passport photos.

What was wrong with the passport photo? Isn't it the passport size photo (2"X2") that we need to send with DS-230? Is there anything that we need to pay special attention while sending passport photo? Please share your experience it helps many of us ! THanks !

My NVC Journey

10/12/10 –NVC received the file

10/15/10 -NVC case # generated

10/18/10 -Called NVC and gave both beneficiary and petitioner email addresses

10/19/10 - Beneficiary emailed DS-3032 to NVC and also mailed the hard copy

10/26/10 - Called NVC and got the IIN

10/26/10 - Paid AOS fee $ 88.00

10/27/10 - AOS fee status shows "PAID"

10/27/10 - AOS package expressed mailed (next day delivery)

10/30/10 - IV fee bill generated and paid immediately

10/30/10 - Received AOS fee bill and DS-3032 kit and also received the confirmation of receipt of DS-3032

11/04/10 - IV fee bill status shown as "paid"

11/04/10 - Sent IV package (next day delivery)

11/06/10 - Received IV instructions packet (packet 3) via email

11/08/10 - AOS entered into NVC system

11/16/10 - AOS was reviewed and OK'ed

11/18/10 - IV entered into NVC system

11/24/10 - IV package was reviewed and generated artificial RFE for missing photographs (which was actually submitted with the package)

11/26/10 - RFE response mailed out

11/29/10 - RFE response delivered to NVC

12/08/10 - RFE response entered into NVC system

12/15/10 - SIF :)

12/15/10 - Case Complete :)

01/03/11 - Interview date assigned for Feb 15 @ 1:30 PM

01/17/11 - Medical done ! Passed

01/25/11 - Re-scheduled the interview for Feb 1 @ 1:00 PM

02/01/11 - Interview @ 1:00 PM - Approved :)

02/03/11 - Visa picked up from USEM

02/12/11 - POE @ JFK

I'll never know. They just sent the checklist letter saying the passport photos were missing. We had some extra photos and we measured them and they were 2 x 1 3/4. The NVC doesn't explain if the photos we sent were the incorrect size or if they were simply lost and missing. So we took them again and made sure they were 2x2 and sent them back to the NVC.
