Hey guys,

Just a quick question who gets blue sheeted/slipped to do DNA Testing? I am getting nervous because my father's name was added to my Birth Paper when I was twelve. He has always been in my life since birth but in Jamaica back then this was not important. Now it is. Anyway I am now 32 years old and he filed for me when I was twenty six years old. Does this cause a problem?

My category is "Unmarried sons and daughters of US Citizens over the age of 21 years". It took 6 years for this process to be completed in my category.

Thanks guys.

Hi Mandy - it's hard to say who gets blue slipped or not - I think, from what we have seen, that the likelihood increases if the father was added later on -

I would say hope for the best, but be prepared -

There is another Yardie who just went through it, you can find her post here:

Mandy-- My husband is going through the same exact thing. He was added to his daughter's birth certificate just last year, once we actually started applying for him to come over on a K-1. That is when he found out that he wasn't on his daughter's BC. It is a whole other experience and an expensive one. It cost us $750 USD. He took the test and his daughter just took the test this Tues. Now we are awaiting the results. Pray for us and we will do the same for you.
