My gf is an international student trying to sign up for winter courses at an American University: Looking for advice and help

So far, the phone calls she has made to various UNIs have resulted in very little information, and the people have not helped her very much. I feel bad, she is well spoken and knows what she wants. Evidently the UNI staff have no clue about such matters and just keep transferring her. Sometimes one person transfers her back to the previous, ughhh.

It is getting frustrating. Basically, all she needs to know is: How can an international student sign up for winter courses (usually from December 27-January 15th) in an American University? She just graduated with a BA this June and intends to get her masters in the states starting fall 2011, but wants to experience a small dose of American education before she dives into her masters.

Please someone help with any advice, because the schools she continues to call aren't!

Otherwise, any advice on getting a tourist visa (she is Chinese)?

Any university with a graduate program will be able to give her the needed information. I would imagine a lot of it would be available online as well.

hi there, i will share some of my experience of that kind of situation. I am enrolling here in one of the universities of Texas for masters degree too. The requirements they asked are the follwing:

1. Transcript of Records( if the transcripts is not in English you have to transcribe it into English version)

2. Transcript Evaluation ( means if you have reach there expected GPA required like B to A grade)

3. You have to take the GRE Exam

4. You have to take the TEOFL Exam ( this is optional if you have Green Card already they will not require you to take this anymore)

5. 200-300 words of Essay about You ( Why you want to pursue a masters degree)

6. They also asked at least 3 letters of recommendations from the previous professors from the school she graduated.

Hope this helps.

And of course money, lots of it.

The International Admissions Office is the one to speak to.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
