I saw a post asking how things are going, and wondering if I fell off the planet. I haven't fallen off the planet, I've just been busy.

Rob and I were married on October 23. :) We've been running around and doing all the post marriage ####### getting ID's, new ID's, applying for SS cards...and all that other junk you have to do. Anyway, the wedding went off well witht he exception of our JP who apparently had previously had thyroid surgery and could barely talk. I'm not sure what we agreed to with our wedding vows exactly (LOL) but there were I do's, laughs, cheers, and one hell of a reception. If anyone feels like picking up beer cans/bottles and other "OMG WE had one hell of a wedding reception" leftovers, come on by the house...LOL. We're still trying to get it all picked up.

Since Nich-Nick asked if I had any funny stories, or assumed I do, I actually do have a good one...LOL.

The morning after our wedding night, Rob decides there is a pimple on my back that MUST GO. He proceeds to squeeze the ever living beegeezus out of it. It hurt like a *(&*&%&^R%JHGKU&%^&*^* and I involuntarily kicked the heck out of Rob in the knee. On the way back down my TOES caught the stupid shoelace hooks on the boots he was wearing, ripped a huge gash in the end of my pinky toe and I am fairly certain fractured the toe next to it.

All I could think of as I was hopping around using every profanity I have EVER heard was...And we get to spend the REST OF OUR LIVES doign this...LOL.

haha, One time Nik was too close behind me and I tossed my head (you know, a hair flippy thing) and bonked him in the nose!! So, for a while he would approach cautiously and warn me of his presence with the words "Nose Bane" Well, several other un-cautious flailings later, I'm Nose-bane, Elbow-bane, Toe-bane......

Years ago, I was walking too closely behind a girl who was swinging her arms rather energetically as she walked. She suddenly slowed her walk (I didn't), and she whacked me squarely in the "huevos" (Spanish for the two tender, uniquely masculine, scrotally-contained physiologic items). As I cleared the miasma from my eyes and attempted to rise from my knees or wherever I'd collapsed, she and her girlfriend were laughing hysterically. I managed to choke out, "What's so funny?" It's been years since I took it, but I did take 3 years and aced it...I just don't have a chance to use it as often, or I should say I didn't, but the population around here has become much more diverse since Hurricane Katrina, so I should probably touch it up!

And TBone...I do speak a little spanish and bad. It's been years since I took it, but I did take 3 years and aced it...I just don't have a chance to use it as often, or I should say I didn't, but the population around here has become much more diverse since Hurricane Katrina, so I should probably touch it up!
You know more than I do, then, si man. When (after diligent practice & self-rehearsal) I told a new acquaintance in Ecuador that I was pleased to meet him, he looked very alarmed and pointed me toward the nearest bathroom, si man.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
