loo paper

Well even I would wish to buy all organic, all local, all handmade products for my life. I cannot afford that. A lot of people can't. I happen to think Walmart is partly a scape goat for junk and china imports, meanwhile it seems all major chain stores do the same exact thing yet charge you more for it.

 That you think I can and do is funny. However, some stores do stock more local products than others and I prefer those. It is possible to live without heaps of cheap junk though but my biggest gripe with Walmart (apart from them being too big and not as cheap as people think; other own brand products are often cheaper than 'name brand' products from Walmart) is that those goods that are cheaper are not cheaper because they are making a lower margin than other stores, but because they stock the products that are at the lowest spec of a given range of products that other stores often will not stock because their customers are not interested in these low spec goods.

Target is my favorite though. I always get incredibly good deals on shoes and clothes. I realize some people would think it's poor quality stuff but I don't want to wear something for years unless it's fancy or a coat/sweater. The rest I like to change up so I don't care if my clothes doesn't look as good after 6 months. Time for more! I am extremely cheap in a way. I went to Target Saturday, considering to buy a shirt for 16.99 that I kind of liked. Instead I got a $10 shirt that I also liked and a pretty red purse for $6.24, so I got those two for the price of the one shirt. That's how I roll.

The towns around here without any hoodrats at all don't even let Walmart in. The very existence of a Walmart generally means there are hoodrats in the vicinity, lock your doors and close your windows and hide your children!

I looked on it for a brand name, didn't find anything. All I remember is I got it at WM.

It's not in walking distance of me either - another reason I tend not to go there.

You could have got 4 of each in a thrift store, and that's how I roll

Well that is good! I have a hard time finding things that fit right in those places but if I found something I liked I would buy it there.

I understand not everything has to be expensive to be better or healthier. It's just that to alter every aspect of my life for that would be too pricey right now. I am involved in Etsy.com a lot and they have a "handmade pledge" that some people take. Not about food but about all other purchases. To only buy things that were handmade by you or someone else, or to resuse(like vintage items). I'd like to do that but you'd have to do it for every single aspect of life to really take the pledge. I wish it was easier to do that.

Does this mean that Republicans are too lazy to google stuff and rather get everything pre-filtered by Fox News?

You change clothes every 6 months and think you're cheap? The shirt I'm wearing right now was purchased in 2002  The pants are from 2005.

You misundertand hehe. Sometimes because I bought something really cheap, it doesn't stay in the best of shape after 6 months. Then it's time to get something new. Many of my jeans I have had for several years and they haven't worn out(usually from Old Navy).

The Google thing is likely associated with age. The Republican base is generally older (on average) and therefore less likely to be enthused about newer technologies.

I'm just trying to say that I don't really buy the kinds of goods that are cheaper at Walmart and in general I avoid big stores in favour of local markets/stores. If you don't buy Kraft Mac'n'Cheese type foods local stores are perfectly affordable. The exception to that is loo paper and I buy that at Target; it's slightly closer and for the brand I like, cheaper too.

I used to buy new clothes almost every week. Now I have so many clothes I just buy stuff when I need it. A new pair of jeans here or there. I think Target has some cute stuff but Christina is right about the quality. I've noticed the material in a lot of the clothes there and at Old Navy is waaaay too thin.
