Airfares to Philippines

I have been to the Phils 3 times and each time I started searching for fares at least 2 months prior to my travel date. Each time NorthWest Airlines had the best fare compared to other airline web sites or any of the sites such as orbitz or priceline.......... I could have got a little cheaper fare if I departed from California (LA or San Fran) but I live on the east coast and from the east coast round trip to California and back to SC drove the total price way above the cost from Northwest. The airplies from California did not fly anywhere near where I live. Northwest from SC to Detroit to Narita, Japan to Manila. Now Northwest has become part of Delta airlines.

We are planning on traveling back next July and I will search as I have always but do not anticipate getting a fare lower than one of the major airlines that services the city where I live. Our final destination is Mindanao. I purchase my ticket ahead of time for the final leg to my destination on Philippine Airlines web site since I fly the following morning upon from Manila to Mindanao. The lowest fare was 1,200 and the highest was 1,400. I expect to pay more this trip due to the ever rising fares of the airlines. :ranting:

I too fly from the east coast - NYC to Manila.

Flying to Manila, I always fly on Cathay Pacific - NYC to HK to Manila.

The highest I have ever paid is a little over $1400 & that was during the peak season on short notice. I also paid a little under $1000 for travel back in January.

I do not book via the search engines (Priceline, Orbitz, etc), I book directly thru the airlines. I only use the search engines for price comparison.

After my wife's visa is approves, I will have her use one of the TAs in The Philippines as she could get a good deal for a first time immigrant flyer.

Any suggestions as to best airfares to Philippines? Obviously an agency that you have used before. Ticket prices have sky rocketed!

They are pretty cheap right now, Cheapest I have seen in a few years.

Just get ticket to Manila and then get a domestic ticket once you arrive

Look @ Air China or Korean Air as your Major carrier from USA to PI.

Cathay Pacific also but as I explained before, unless you are on the west coast, specifically California, you have an extra expense traveling to California and again from California to the East coast on your return leg which negates the savings flying from the west coast to Manila. I have done this comparison each time I have traveled to Manila and each time would have cost me more being on the east coast. Best rates from LA and San Fran and Seattle on the foreign airlines to Manila and some fly direct from the west coast to Manila. Someone mentioned NYC but again I would have the extra cost of flying from southeast USA to JFK round trip. Cost really is determined by where you live and how much it costs to get from Home to the airport departing the USA, unless of course you live by an airlines major hub and it has departing international flights. Whose your Daddy!!!! :pop:

A Filipino friend of mine recommended a place called Star Tours, and I've used them twice in the past year. Both times they were able to get me better availability at lower fares than I could find on the web. Ask for Vicki - vstartours@integra.net

Star Tours

224 Puyallup Ave

Tacoma, WA 98402

Tel: 253-572-4566

Toll: 1-888-838-8318

Fax: 253-572-7654

I think I used this place when I went on my second trip and they were a lot cheaper than anything else I could find. Of course that was five years ago

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Philippines
Timeline

We paid 1,613 for each adult, 1,315 for child airfare via United Airlines and Japan Airlines. Yes, prices skyrocketed because this is high season, everything is like 2,000+++ so I guess what we paid is somewhat cheap. We used sidestep.com and was directed to vayama.com.
