K1/SSN Catch 22

K-1s are eligible for an SSN immediately on arrival. The next day works best. Nothing has to be checked.

BS You aren't going to be assigned an SSN until your immigration status is verified. Now procedure is that the SSA office is supposed to hold the application and recheck the initial verification if you apply before being in the country 10 days before going to the next step of the verification process, but I have found a lot of office don't follow this and go right to the next step with the secondary electronic verification request. If you haven't been here 10 days, it is likely that that will also not verify and the G-845 will be sent. Then you will be waiting another month.

Wait at least ten days to apply to give yourself the best shot of verifing on the initial verification.
