Timeline

Hi,

I'm new to VJ; my fiance and I have our first interview date coming up in the next couple of weeks. Please excuse my ignorance if I'm missing something here: I don't see where in the instructions from the HCMC consulate that a timeline, let alone a notarized one, is required. I searched the K appointment package instructions here: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/hochiminh/174995/pdf/AppointmentK.pdf, and there's no mention of any timeline. Does this come as a request as part of a secondary or later interview, or after a blue slip is given, or does everyone need to provide one? I can scramble and get one fedexed to my fiance in time, but I'm surprised I didn't hear about this until now.

Thank you,

-Matt

Yes, the timeline of relationship seems to be expected at the HCMC consulate along with some others. And you are correct that it is not in the appointment package. If you've been reading through the Vietnam, K1, and other forums you may have seen discussions about front loading the petition. This is where folks will include a timeline so that it is available for the CO to review prior to the interview.

There is (typically) only one interview. The folow visit up is to learn the decision if an RFE/ blue slip is issued.

Depending on the evidence (of bona fide relationship) that you have already submitted the CO may or may not feel a need for a timeline. And your fiance(e) can certainly bring one with his/her to the interview. That document may not be reviewed at that time. It will be added to the file and reviewed later if a blue slip is issued.

I would suggest that you put together the timeline of relationship and have your SO bring it to the interview. It cannot hurt.
