Hey,everyone,long time no chat We got married and it was the most magical day.I hope everyone experiences all the love and excitement we did.Now of course we are looking to start the adjustment of status process.I checked the guide on visajourney and now I have a couple of questions.First of it's a little confusing which forms exactly we need to complete.Second it's $1010 right?Do we need to spend extra $340 for the employment authorisation?Doesn't it come along with the adjustment?Also how long does it usually take?If we send the docs tomorrow when will I be able to start work?I really need someone to walk us through that,because I want to make sure we won't get RFE this time.Not mentioning I haven't been working for over two months now and I really miss it too When and how do we change my name as I am willing to take his last name.Also on the guide tips BE SURE TO USE CODE ©(9) FOR A 1-YEAR EAD CARD (when filing concurrently with I-485)!!! what does that mean?Do I need to fill out I-765 and I-131 and G-1145 ??? http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos Use this and I have no idea what that C 9 meant either just sent in the form for EAD and AP along with your I-485 and yes it is $1010. That includes biometrics and the work permit and Ap, applications for these are free if sent with 485 and who knows how long it will take you can look at processing times but AOS is taking 4 months on USCIS sight your EAD and AP card should come quicker as I have seen that a lot on peoples timelines about 2 months wait for them.

Now, as to the business of completing forms... It is always best to download forms and instructions from the official website http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis to make sure you are getting the most up to the minute information regarding fees and mailing addresses. For the same fee you can file the Adjustment Of Status, Employment Authorization Document, and Advance Parole. I would recommend you file all three forms even if you do not think you will be needing the AP -same fee, so why not?

You will not be able to work until your EAD is approved. Members have reported that it took about 3 months to obtain. In the mean time, you can be the best homemaker ever!

It is $1010 total, the work authorization and AP when filed with AOS come with the original cost. AP and EAD will probably take around 60-90 days. AOS probably will take around 100 (could be more or less, ours was around 70). You will be able to start working as soon as your EAD is approved. You can change your name at Social Security, write the name you want to appear on your green card on all your applications for immigration. C 9 tells immigration why you qualify for the EAD card, it is the correct code to use if you are adjusting status at the same time, which you are. You will need the I-765 (work authorization), I-131 (travel), I-485, G-1145 (to show they received your app., G325 (bio), and I-864 (affidavit of support.

I have 4 short questions about AOS. Note: I entered the US legally on K-1 VISA!

1. Does my husband have to file i-130 for me now, if for my k-1 he filed i-129f and it was approved? I am already in the US.

2. Do I need to submit a CERTIFIED copy of my marriage certificate, or just a plain copy?

3. Do I need to submit a COPY or the ORIGINAL of my vaccination certificate?

4. I want to move from NC to NYC. How will that affect my application process?

No. As long as you married before your I-94 expired then you can adjust based on the K1. An I-130 would only be needed if you married after the I-94 expired, or if you wait more than two years after marrying before sending the AOS petition.

Let's clear up some terminology.

There is one, and only one, original marriage certificate. You and your spouse signed it, as well as the JP or cleric who performed the marriage. The county recorder's office keeps this. They don't give it to anyone for any reason.

The county recorder can give you a copy of the original, and they can stamp that copy to certify that it's a copy of the original document. This is a "certified copy". Nobody except the custodian of the original document (the county recorder) can issue a certified copy.

You can make photocopies of a certified copy. The photocopies are not certified copies. They are copies of a certified copy. Only a copy produced from the original document, and stamped by the custodian of the original document, is a certified copy.

USCIS will accept a copy of a certified copy with the petition. The IO may ask to see the certified copy at the interview.

3. Do I need to submit a COPY or the ORIGINAL of my vaccination certificate?

Make a copy for your own records. Send the original.

4. I want to move from NC to NYC. How will that affect my application process?

Better if you don't move while your AOS petition is pending. Too many people have been hung up by address changes not reaching the field office in time, and they get denied because they missed the interview or don't receive the notices. Plan your move either before you submit the AOS petition, or after you get your green card.

The OP wouldn't have the original vaccination sheet. It will be a copy of the original that was included in your POE packet.

A copy is fine. Copies only unless specified that originals should be included.
