Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

It's not fair to generalize all Baptists one way. I am not Baptist but I have known many baptists who were nothing like the generalizations about them.

I wouldn't be surprised if the KKK called themselves baptists, but would it make a difference if they called themselves methodist, lutheran, non-denominational? They still would have tried to justify their actions no matter what label they used. That doesn't mean being baptist=evil.

You will find differences from one Baptist church to another. One church may be filled with very sweet sweet people, nicest people you'll ever meet, and the other church could be filled with legalistic jerks who are rarely nice to outsiders. And then there are some in between. That's how every church is. But it's not right to generalize like that.

Sorry but most of the baptists I have known have left a horrible aftertaste.

Besides, these people of which I speak have no problems generalizing everyone else so why should I...

Well because generalizing is just not a good idea. Sorry they left a bad taste. I went to a baptist Christian school for 2 years---it was horrendous! Legalistic doesn't even begin to describe it. (my parents didn't even make me go, I wanted to because my friends went there  and someone else paid for us to go) But still I would not generalize all Baptists the same. I made some very sweet friends at that school, who were Baptist. And then some of the Baptist teachers were incredibly weird/mean. Sounds like how regular humans act. :P Some are mean, some are nice, some are in between.

well ok, because I respect you I'll not generalize baptists. But having been to a baptist school I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from

One who truly believes in the teachings of Christ and tries their best to be like him. Not like some weird old crank in the OT. The majority of baptists here in the south think that we should go back to OT times. This doesn't just go for baptists though, a lot of other people from different denominations (I can safely say a lot of Catholics since I was one)... are nothing like what Christ was like. There is a quote by someone out there (I forget who) that says "If Jesus came back today, one thing he would not be is christian"

Having said that, I do know a lot of christians who do try to be like Christ and try to be good people who accept others and leave judgement to God.

Totally understand what you are saying.

I went to a Baptist school for a while too..... had a falling out with the teachers once... they told me I couldn't wear pants to school... I asked why?... they said because girls are not supposed to wear boys clothes... I said, "didn't men wear dresses when that was written?"

They didn't like me much

wow,, the baptist church is indeed following some of the more radical teachings of islam

Yep, that's Baptist for you! I grew up Southern Baptist and It's what scared me away from that "pew jumpin" fanaticism! My brother is a life long deacon in the baptist church and even he thinks they are a bit extreme at times.

Ever heard of the Baptist sect that worships rattle snakes??? Psycho!
