Will my credentials transfer?

I have worked previously for a company in Canada which required that any educational certifications completed outside of Canada be assessed by a third party organization for equivalence. I am curious about my move to the USA and what difficulties I might face with employment or further studies given that I now hold a degree from Canada (4 yrs, from an accredited University). Are any assessments required, and is this something I should work on prior to leaving Canada?

Any information is appreciated. I would love to hear from people who have dealt with this directly, or know the process. I am considering Grad school in California and if not, I plan to work in a field related to my degree where the credentials are valued (I am sure this won't happen right away, but eventually).

same is true here in the US. a standard requirement is equivalence assessments too which have to be done by US-accredited agencies (so you might want to wait til you're here), but not so much for employment (depends on the employer and probably the position you're aplpying for) as for further studies. =)

Do you know the name of any of these agencies? I am not sure what sort of keyword to use to find them online.

I would start with the process now.

I assume that your 4 year degree led to a bachelor's degree. Your bachelor's degree will count as a bachelor's degree here. There is nothing special to do about that. Any other professional certifications would probably need to be redone (teacher license, etc). If you are more specific with what you are concerned with, maybe we could help you more.

It will be a 4 yr Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts (Visual Art) with a minor in English...

Not sure what my intentions for school or work are yet, but just trying to get my head wrapped around all of the things I will likely have to do once I move.

I have dealt with WES in the past (with my previous job, as mentioned above) and they seem competent enough. I am curious, are they US accredited for evaluations, as I believe they are a Canadian company?

I won't finish my degree until May, so I will have to wait until then to get the ball rolling. I just want to have everything ready to go with no loose ends come POE time.
