Hi everyone,

Thank you in advance for reading and and for your help! I am in the last few days of putting everything together, and have been reading through the "RFE" thread at the top of the forum to avoid making any mistakes, and noticed some posts from 2007 or so about needing the beneficiary's birth certificate/all pages of their passport. Is this still the case? I've read over all the guides and it looks like I just need a copy of MY (the petitioner's) birth certificate (front and back). Right?

For the attached supplement on "explain how you met" for the 129F, is it just me (petitioner) who signs it, or does he need to sign it as well? I'm the only one signing the 129F form, so that means I should be the only one signing the attachment? Or does this not even matter?

My fiance is from the UK, and I met him when I was studying abroad. For evidence of meeting within the past two years, I'm submitting the following info.

1) Copies of my UK student visas from my passport.

2) Dated and signed letter of acceptance from the British university I attended

3) Copy of the front page of my passport (with photo, signature and expiration date)

4) Copy of the front page of his passport (with photo, signature and expiration date)

5) Dated and signed letter from our former British employer, on company letterhead, explaining the circumstances under which we met (we met while working at a British summer camp as camp counselors)

6) Printed itinerary of the trip we took to Italy this past summer with both our names on it

7) Copies of the stamps from my passport related to entry/exit from this trip to Italy. (He doesn't have stamps from this trip because he's British and thus a member of the EU- is this ok??)

8) Dated emails

9) Dated photographs of us together.

My questions:

- As part of the evidence that we've met, should we copy ALL the pages of our respective passports, just to show exactly where we've been?

- Do we need to sign EVERY page of this evidence, including the personal emails and the supporting letters from others? I know we need to sign all attachments, but it seems confusing to write my signature at the bottom of a letter that someone else has already written and signed.

I'm sorry this was a long post, and thank you to anyone who can give us advice, help us avoid any RFEs and more time spent apart.

your fiane doesnt need to sign anything but G325a

Also, youre not required to send the fiance's birth certificate, some do just to make sure ( i was one of them )

ALSO,we copied all pages of our passports, just to prove that the passport is ours and highlighted the stamps and dates,so far so good,no RFE

another also, i suggest you sign every piece of evidence, write your name and the date, with a blue pen ( assuming youre sending copied evidence, cause you shouldnt send any originals ) just in case.

then again im a bit OCD

good luck

Do NOT sign with BLUE PEN... All Government forms are expected to be in BLACK INK. Front-loading is good. Send it ALL in.

This is incorrect.

The USCIS accepts either color. The form itself should be typed or filled out in black ink. The signatures can be either color. Blue is HIGHLY recommended as it is very easy to tell that the form is not photocopied.

I wouldn't worry. It really falls to the discretion of the adjucator and most should (I would think), be able to tell the difference between an original signature in black and a black photocopy.

Yea, I can understand that, I feel the same way haha.

But good thing is (if you can call a RFE a good thing) that when they usually send an RFE it means they are ready to process the NOA2 but just need a little bit more information.

From reading this website for over a year, the trend I saw (for members registered here) usually follows as: an RFE is sent, answered and then the NOA2 is given out soon after, though that always isn't the case.

Either way, No RFE = Good thing :P.

Right?

Just your (Petitioner) birth certificate (front/back)or all passport pages

For the attached supplement on "explain how you met" for the 129F, is it just me (petitioner) who signs it, or does he need to sign it as well? I'm the only one signing the 129F form, so that means I should be the only one signing the attachment? Or does this not even matter?

I signed mine (better safe than sorry) and I would recommend you do the same, and only you (Petitioner) needs to sign it.

My fiance is from the UK, and I met him when I was studying abroad. For evidence of meeting within the past two years, I'm submitting the following info.

1) Copies of my UK student visas from my passport.

8) Dated emails

9) Dated photographs of us together.

My questions:

- As part of the evidence that we've met, should we copy ALL the pages of our respective passports, just to show exactly where we've been?

I would say that is up to you (I copied all of mine). It can't hurt if you copy and include all.

- Do we need to sign EVERY page of this evidence, including the personal emails and the supporting letters from others? I know we need to sign all attachments, but it seems confusing to write my signature at the bottom of a letter that someone else has already written and signed.

I would say no, but I am not 100% sure on this. I did not sign every piece of evidence, just the attachments.

I'm sorry this was a long post, and thank you to anyone who can give us advice, help us avoid any RFEs and more time spent apart.

Thank you! I really appreciate the advice. Any more opinions on whether or not to sign all the attached "pieces of evidence"? My original plan was to type up a separate sheet that acts as a kind of table of contents for all this evidence (this info is also listed on the cover page, but thought I should write out an additional sheet that also explains why my fiance doesn't have the exit/entry stamps from our trip to Italy because he's an EU citizen, etc.). If my fiance and I provide original signatures on this document, do you think it's ok to just attach all the emails/passport page copies etc. to that? I realize I'm probably splitting hairs here, but just really want to do this all right. Thanks!

I didn't sign any of the evidence, as far as I recall. I sent copies (scanned in and assembled on a page) of boarding passes for both of us (visits in US and Germany) and pictures with him and I and him/my family etc. (dates, explanations of what it was etc)

Had no problems.

None of that can hurt, probably would make it easier on the person doing your petition. I would probably write the letter explaining why your fiance doesnt have exit/entry stamps just for insurance. And that should be fine. Just make sure the petition is organized in the order in which you list it in the cover letter.

They also need to sign the letter of intent.

Do NOT sign with BLUE PEN... All Government forms are expected to be in BLACK INK.

They're not that #######. They'll accept either blue or black ink. Some people recommend signing in blue ink to make it obvious that the signature is original and not a photocopy, but they overlook the fact that there are color photocopiers readily available, and many people scan documents into their computer to produce copies.

I think the best advice is to sign using a ball point pen, regardless of color. The signature will leave an impression on the paper, and the ink will be glossy. Whether the form was printed with an ink jet or laser toner (which includes photocopiers) it will be obvious the signature is original. Don't use a felt pen - it will be difficult to tell if the signature is original or a copy, especially if the form was printed on an ink jet printer.

Thank you! I really appreciate the advice. Any more opinions on whether or not to sign all the attached "pieces of evidence"? USCIS does recommend that you label each attachment with the petitioner's name, the associated form and section (if any), a brief description of the contents, and a signature. I labeled everything as described, but I only signed things that contained a statement that seemed to justify a signature. I didn't sign pages containing copies of photos or boarding passes or anything like that. I also frontloaded some stuff that was specific to the consulate in Vietnam. Since that stuff contained original statements from me, I signed those.

You don't really need two table of contents pages. If the contents are listed on the cover letter, that should be enough. What you might want to do is provide a divider sheet (appropriately labeled, of course) to separate each section listed in your table of contents. If you decide to attach tabs to the bottom of the pages (as USCIS suggests you can do here) then attach the tabs to the divider pages, and not to pages containing any actual evidence or copies of documents.

For example, if your cover sheet's table of contents lists "Attachment 12 - I-129F, Question 18, Evidence of Meeting", then you could have a blank sheet with the same title and a tab at the bottom that says "Attachment 12". This will make it a little easier to find each section listed in your table of contents.
