How do.

I had my visa interview last Monday (18th October) at 9am. I knew pretty much what to expect from reading people's experiences on here.

Queued up at 8.30 just behing Robbie Earle (heading over there after his sacking by ITV I guess). After the security check and being issued a ticket I was probably seated and waiting by 8.50am.

It is true what I read on here - for every K1 applicant there are possibly 30 Work Visa applicants, possibly even more. I just waited and chatted with the guy sat next to me for two hours but I would definitely recommend taking a book or magazine.

When I was eventually called up I gave all docs requested - (only the NOA2 approval and Affadavit of support, nothing more!) I provided tax transcripts from IRS office in Phoenix but the CO did not recognise the documents and was happy to accept the electronic Turbo Tax returns instead. I also provided a letter from her employer and payslips. I was then asked to go and pay for the visa at a different window.

When i tried to pay the £218 by card, my bank blocked the transaction for fraud reasons - the US Embassy server is in Washington DC and this must have thrown up a red flag. Either way i absolutey soiled myself - so nervous.

I had to leave the embassy and managed to withdraw cash at a machine on Oxford Rd. I was allowed to skip the queue on my way back in and also went straight back to the CO dealing with my forms. Once the payment was made I was then asked to take a seat and await further instructions.

I was possibly only sat down for 5 mins until my name was called over the tannoy - too soon for it to be approved, must have been missing something i thought.

I got to the window and was asked to give more fingerprints and take an oath, then I was asked only two questions - what my fiancee does for work and when I intended to get married - that was it! I was then told that my visa was being approved and to line up for the courier services.

Such a painless process - aside from my card being blocked. I was pretty stressed about it (and having ALL the correct forms)before I went, but my experience was pretty painless and I cant believe i was not asked for any evidence of relationshp etc.

Good Luck to anyone with interviews coming up -relax and it will be fine!

Congrats!

Your account of the money trouble cracked me up. I consider myself a pretty laid-back person, but I am always nervous when it comes to USCIS stuff and immigration. I wonder how they can tell what's normal nervousness and what's "fraud" nervousness. Ha!
