GC to Citizenship: 3 or 5 years

This is a basic question but I have been getting very different answers. My AOS was approved Jan 2009 via Marriage to USC

and I am eligible for removal of conditions Jan 2011. When can I apply for my citizenship? is it 3 years from AOS which means

in Jan 2012 or 5 years which makes it Jan 2014.

Because you are married to a USC it is 3 years.

earliest eligibility is 90 days before your third year anniversary of becoming a LPR.

Just a quick correction:

If you were approved AOS in January 2009, you will be eligible and you have to file for ROC up to 90 days BEFORE the green card expires, do not wait until January 2011.

If you have an approved AOS based on marriage, you need to accrue 3 years of presence in US in order to apply for your citizenship. With that said, most of the times people are eligible to apply approximately 1 year after ROC is approved.

It depends how much time the person spends in the country. If I am out of US 1 month every year, the worksheet might not be that accurate.
