What to do with the Ontario Plate?

I've drove to California with my own car from Toronto which used to have an Ontario Plate.Then I've got the California Plate.

Now what do I do with the Ontario plate that I have?

Do I just throuh it out or send it back to the DVM?

Hang it in the man cave? Pretty sure they don;t want it back - keep it as a souvenir.

That's what I'd say.. Unless there's some refund for the unused time left before expiration and even then, you'd have to weigh whether it is worth the effort.

I kept my Manitoba plates. They're in my closet, on the shelf next to my chest xray from the medical!

My father-in-law still has a set of Idaho plates (we live in Utah) from his youth. I don't think any place's DMV really wants them back.

[They definitely don't want my front one. 50000+ km of highway driving and it don't look so good anymore. ]

I think there is a refund if you turn them in prior to expiry but probably not really worth the effort unless you have a decent balance owed.

Down here in good ol south carolina you can have anything on your front plate!haha When I bought my new car a couple of months ago they gave me a paperplate with a date on it for my rear(whoever thought THAT would be legal? ) I put one of my old plates on my new car(in the front) and my daughter has my old car and she has the ontario plate on the front of hers..its awesome!

Only if the state let you keep your Canadian ownership. I found this out after waiting at the MTO for like an hour, giving my plates in, they took them and said "oh yeah, no refund cause you don't have your ownership".

I had a lot of time left on mine and got 50 bucks back when I turned mine in.

Up to you though, I think you are allowed to keep them if you really want to.

My living room is my man cave and that's exactly where my Ontario plate is hanging. Next to my California, Wyoming and 2 older Colorado plates that are also hanging there.

The second plate was donated to my friend who collected licence plates and didn't have any Canadian ones...
