I plan to travel to Europe for Christmas, and would like to leave around the 1st of December.

I don't think I'll have received my AP before leaving, but probably a bit later and my husband will leave to meet me the 21st of Dec. Is it ok if he brings the AP with him? Has someone done that before?

Do I absolutely need the official document or a proof that it's been approved?

Thanks!

The AP must be approved before you leave the US. You must have the AP document in your hand when you attempt to reenter the US, but you do not necessarily have to have it when you leave.

It's a little risky, though. If it gets lost in the mail, or something else unfortunate occurs, you could find yourself locked out of the US for significantly longer than you planned. I personally wouldn't leave the Us without it in my hand, but your mileage/risk tolerance may vary.

DON'T PANIC
