Hi guys,I just found this website and I really need some advice.

I already finished my final intervew at the US embassy 2 months ago. At that time my husband was working in Japan and he was told to find a job in the US.

So he went back to the US and found a full-time job that earns approximately $17,500 per year. We have assets around $16,600. Would his pay plus assets be enough for I-846? I did some research and some people say its enough and some say its not.

I dont have to go back to the embassy since our interview is done. I just have to mail the employment letter. I was wondering if I also need a statement saying that I intend to work in the US. Or anything shows that I wouldnt become a public charge.

I would be more than thankful to hear some advice. Thank you in advance.

If it's just the two of you, then you have plenty of assets to cover the shortfall.

Since the employment income itself will not be sufficient, I would provide a new I-134 with the employer letter. The I-134 should list the assets and you should provide documentation to support what is listed. If it's cash in an account of some sort, an account statement will do. $3 in assets can replace $1 in income shortfall but they only count liquid assets, that cannot include your only car and must be documented.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Thank you for your reply.

The people in the embassy didn't ask us for a new I-134, they just told us to get the employment letter and evidence of assets. Do we still need a New I-134?

I need help. So, we found a joint sponsor who has an income of around 16,000. She also receives pension and has a house with no mortgage(paid off)...worth at least 175,000. The required income is 19,387 for 2. She is 3,242 short. So, in order for the assets to count they would have to be worth 5x the difference, which is 16,250. Could we use the house as an asset and make up for the difference? It's more than enough. Please help. I hope someone responds as soon as possible. Thanks (: (oh and I almost forgot she has an IRA of 10,000..not sure if we can use that too) Help?
