It's a couple of months away but I was wondering about the POE process...

I plan to accompany my fiancee to the US for her POE in Orlando and I know that I can go through the 'Vistors' line at immigration with her but, knowing my government, I'm 99.9% certain she's on her own for the immigrant processing phase. Does anyone know for sure?

My plan is to hope that it doesn't take too long and that I can stall in the 'sterile area' while I await our luggage, then we can clear the customs portion together as well and head for home. I just don't want to be herded out to the main terminal leaving her alone and trying to find me later. The good thing is we will have no connecting flights so if we are separated and/or delayed, we won't be missing any later flights.

I think I read somewhere that if you're a on a K-1, you can stand in the resident/citizenship line, just ask if you both can stand there, doesn't hurt.

Thanks, I didn't know that but it could be helpful if the visitor lines are long when we arrive. In Orlando, there are about 20 lines for visitors, 3 for Citizens/residents and 1 for crew and diplomats. Depending on what other flights have arrived at the same time, I use the visitor lines myself 50% of the time because they are nearly empty. :)

And, I see you are very close to your trip. Best of luck with everything!

What you can do...at least what I did...was put all your lugage behind the glass wall and walk into the immigration waiting room with your fiancee. Definately walk thru the vistors line with your fiancee, and then just ask the immigration officer if you can go with her when they take her to the holding area. I went thru Orlando on the 5th of October and they were nice and helpful. It took about 45 minutes for the process and I they watched our bags...all 12 bags (she has 2 kids). Anyway...I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thanks for the info! At least now I know it can/has been done in Orlando and that it certainly can't hurt to ask..

BTW - I used the citizen line today because it was empty.

CBP: Why were you in Colombia?

Me: Visiting my fiancee.

CBP: Your passport is getting pretty full...

Me: Yeah, but she got her visa during this visit so I shouldn't have to go there so often now..

CBP: Well, good luck with that. Welcome home.

Just trying to figure out whether he meant good luck in general with the fiancee/marriage thing or with the not having to go to Colombia so often. ;)

Both. Don't take it personally, and try not to lose sleep over this comment. Their job is not to spread warm fuzzies around. :bonk:
