First of all Congratulation on your happy marriage life. It will take the US Consulate 4 months from the time the receive your approved petition from the NVC with a Visa number allocated to your case. Once it is received by the US Consulate in Lagos they will schedule your appointment a Visa interview in four months time, to enable you get all the required documents e.g Medical, Police clearance, Affidavit of support and other documents before that 4 months.

You can email the Consulate to find out if they have received your approved petition from the NVC and find out from them the possible date and time for your time,since you know that NVC has instructed you that Visa number is avaliable to you and they have sent your case to US Consulate for final processing there.

First of all Congratulation on your happy marriage life. Are you referring to a K1-visa interview schedule? Because this is for the CR-1 visa and the police clearance and the Affidavit of Support are already completed and will be mailed in the next few days to the NVC. Does it still take 4 months for a CR-1 visa interview from the time NVC completes all processing?

For your information NVC cannot schedule your interview for CR-1 Visa, It must be scheduled by the US Consulate in Lagos even after the NVC has completed the final background check, Note that NVC and the Department of State works together which they have given their sole authority to allow the US Consulate to schedule interview of all immigrant Visa both K1, K3 K4 even CR-1. I am very sure of that it will be in four months once the Consulates receive your case file from NVC.It does not waste time once a case has been completed by USCIS and sent NVC. NVC can hold it for a while for final FBI clearance before it will be mailed finally to the Consulate for finally processing there in the US Consulate in Lagos. Once the NVC has concluded your case and the visa number is avaliable, they will immediately contact your wife via mail informing her that her approved petition on CR-1 has been mailed to the Consulate for final processing. They will instruct the beneficiary in the letter your wife will receive to contact the US Consulate in Lagos for additional documents. Despite that clearance has been done in the US, the Consulate will still do another one with other required documents they may need from you from Nigeria to determine your final eligibility.

Congratulation in advance because i know you will receive your Visa, Just relax, Your wedding video photo is more than enough to grant you Visa without any further questions.

Now I understand , You are petitioner to the Beneficiary in Nigeria, Oh thats good of you, Despite that you will not be allowed to enter with your Husband at the US Consulate, Your presence alone matters to your Husband which will cheer him up before the Consulars, thats wonderful. Have you receive any letter from NVC. Once you receive any letter from the NVC via mail informing you that your Visa petition has been finally sent to the US Consulate ,then you can arrange within 2 months and some weeks to travel before your Husband interview, it will take the US Consulate about 4 good months to schedule an appointment for him , but you can assist him by emailing the US Consulate requesting a date for a visa interview of your husband if you know that the case has been sent to the US Consulate in Lagos for final processing, and wait for a reply from the Consulate for a date and time via email and that will give you a timeline to make your travel to Nigeria to cheer your Husband.

ok so i am a little bit confused here, i have seen in some peoples timeline stating that they get interview date the next month as soon as NVC completes your case and i was told by my lawyer that NVC Schedules one's interview? am i right? maybe i am reading people's timline wrong but so far a lot of them get thier interview the next month as soon as the case is completed PER NVC? mostly the CR1/IR1... am i wrong?

Hi,Every case is different based on the country's US Consulate, In some countries, US Consulate can schedule interview within 1 month immediately they receive the case from NVC,but i am talking about US Consulate in Lagos Nigeria, I am quite very sure that NVC do not schedule interview for US Consulates abroad but is being scheduled by the Consulate themselves and report to the Department of States,Make your inquiry very well, I had passed the same process in Nigeria and they are still doing it uptill date. What NVC does is to allocate a visa number to the approved petition already approved by the USCIS and conduct background check for the Petitioner and applicant before sending out to the Consulate for final processing. Ask your Attorney this, he will tell you the same thing or may be he is not aware about US Consulate processing of an immigrant Visa , Ask him to email the Consulate to update him when likely can applicant receive a date of interview on CR1/IRI once the case has been sent to the Consulate.

Nijabound, the link you posted is a VJ information page for the Lagos consulate, I believe mainly meant for K-1 applicants. I say that because there are items on there that CR-1/IR-1 applicants don't need to worry about, such as packet 3...we only get packet 4. The links I had in my previous post is from the Department of State, which I would presume to be pretty much up to date...there are too many people that rely on that information for it not to be accurate. I cannot tell what visa journey you were on as your timeline is not filled out (please do so as it very much helps others that follow behind you on this journey), but I noticed you are adjusting status (from a K-1 or CR-1, another visa?). If it is K-1, then I can see where your confusion lies, as the process for K-1 is very different than the CR1/IR1, and the Lagos Consulate DOES schedule the interview directly for K-1, but NOT CR-1/IR-1.
