Even if that's true, European and Canadian illegals are better educated and better prepared to

give something to our country instead of taking something from it.

That is a different thread altogether. :ot2:

Canada is not a VWP country, Japan is.

But you guessed it Mexicans are issued the largest number of Visa's and make the largest number of entries, by far.

I'd still like to know the answer to my previous question...

Isn't this kind of a dead issue? What if the rules were different? Take Canada for example....say I'm a visitor driving through Arizona. We go through a checkpoint and they ask for my passport and proof that I'm here legally. So I give them my passport...and then what? I often drive through the Can-US border...they never stamp my passport. Sooo...what is the point in asking Canadian citizens for proof? They have no proof to give them.

Yes. I drive from San Diego to Phoenix frequently and there are at least two on the way there and three on the way back :)

But that doesn't answer my question.

You would show them your passport.

You would show them your passport.

But how does that prove that I'm there legally? I'm saying, if the rules are changed, as some people feel they should be, and they asked me for proof, what would I give them. A passport doesn't show if I'm there legally.

I mentioned that Canadians have an unusual status, I presume they scan your passport on arrival?

No. If I drive across the border, they look at my passport and then hand it back.

If I fly, then yes, they scan it and stamp it. But more often than not I drive.

You have a valid Canadian Passport.

You are good to go. I believe you have a D/S, basically you are in status until, and IJ says otherwise.

Thank you. :) But that wasn't the point of my post. I know I'm good to go. I'm saying, for the people complaining that they don't ask Canadians for proof, that it would be pointless. Most have no proof to give.
