DHS monitors VWP overstays and has a set threshold of 2% that would put a participating country on "probabtion". DHS has reported that 31 out of 36 countries are well below the threshold, five were further investigated and the review of 2 out of 5 found that their VWP overstay rate was below 2%. The other reviews were still underway when DHS delivered this report to Congress. While it is true that overstays are a major source of the overall illegal alien population, it's not the VWP travellers that are the culprits. If they were, they would no longer be part of the VWP.

But hey, why bother with factual detail when useless generalizations make a much better case to be outraged about?

I said some are from VWP countries but if a million just to put a conservative figure on it come a year and 2% stay.. that is a pretty big number.

I question what motivates this type of approach, not outraged but certainly skeptical.

Is not consistent with other conservative enforcement only philosophies, why deviate here?

I think you have to look no further than the forums here to disprove your VWP theory. There are plenty of posts of those who came here on a tourist VISA got married and adjusted status. They also get a "pass" because apparently they later contend they didn't to "intend" to Immigrate when they came here, they originally came to visit Disneyland.
