Congrats on your persistence, T-hoping! Because of the Lagos traffic and after reading what happened to you guys, my husband and I plan to spend the night before the interview at a hotel on Victoria Island not far from the Embassy...we don't want to take aaaaany chances!!! My best of luck to you!

Thanks! What is the name of the hotel and how much is a night. That's exactly what we're doing this time around and we just want to have an idea of the cost. Thanks again

We don't have a hotel yet. We don't even have an interview date yet. I did email the Lagos Consulate's American Citizens Services (lagosacs@state.gov) and asked for recommendations. They emailed me a list of hotels in the vicinity in all different price ranges. My husband will check them out and pick one when we have our interview date.

Here is the context of my email so you can email them too - they were actually very helpful:

Hello;

I'm a U.S. citizen living in New York and will be travelling to Lagos around beginning to mid February 2011.

I would like to stay on Victoria Island not far from the Consulate.

Can you please provide a list of reasonably priced hotels on the Island that I can contact?

Preferably hotels that have A/C, hot water and have a restaurant that offers a variety of foods (not just Nigerian food).

I would really appreciate any assistance you can offer me in this regard as I don't know the area well, and I trust you to recommend a hotel where I am safe and comfortable.

Thank you in advance.

So after almost a year with ups and downs, we finally came to the end of dealing with NVC and ridiculous Lagos embassy. For those who came to the end of the journey, you know what I mean, feel and that "burden" lifted off your shoulder. Hubby went for his interview yesterday and was APPROVED!!!!!. We'll finally be together after six years of long distance relationship (Europe and Naija Vs United States (L) ). He got a hotel close to the embassy this time around and practically walked to the embassy :D. The only thing they asked him during the interview was our emails and pictures which we had a zillion and he was approved within five minutes or less :thumbs: . Now, I can tell those that ask that intimidating question "When is your husband coming?", Answer from me will be "He is here, hey hun, somebody wants to say hi to you" SURPRISE!!!! :dancing: Thanks y'all.

Unfortunately, he won't be coming until end of the year because he also got a transfer job here and he needs to finish things up in Naija. I've waited one year, I think I can make it for some couple of days. POE will be Houston. Thanks!
