Hi all,

My finance recently went back to her home in Chang Chun to acquire all the documents needed for packet 3. She applied for a new visa on Oct. 11th and was told it would be ready in 3-4 days. She returned to pick it up on October 18th and was told they were having problems with the new system and they would mail it to her. She has left to return to her current residence in Fujian Province. Should I be concerned about this? They seem to be a little different in Chang Chun than I have experience in other Chinese cities previously. I was last there in March. Anyone know of a new passport system in China? Her previous passport had expired.

Thanks

My apologies. I thought since packet 3 requires a copy of the biographical page of the current passport a delay caused by a new passport system may be relevent.

CHina has begun to imbede chips into the passports much like many countries are now starting to adopt. As fast as I know the application process and renewal process remain the same. Wouldnt worry to much, most likely just a porblem with the actual printing of the passport.

ya, those 'biometric chips' for storage are being put in this year and last -

so

I'll assume 'her city' is a bit slow, not so many ppl leave China from her city, so not so many 'new passports'.

It's ok - be relaxed - it'll come within 2 months.

Could have paid for special expedite fee, but that's really a 'guanxi bribe' fee.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
