Thanks for posting this. I actually just came across this today myself.

I am assuming that medical appointments are not affected as they are ONLY done on Wednesdays and they are done at a completely different place. Can anyone confirm that?

Adjusting from K-1

08/05/11 - still no word on EAD - no RFE, no NOA... Wondering if this is something to worry about?!

Medical appointments are not part of the US Consulate so are not affected by this closure. The panel physicians are private doctors who are licensed/approved by USCIS/DOS to provide immigration medicals. The two are completely separate.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

If medicals in Vancouver are only done on Wed, are interviews schedule for other days of the week? I will be making a trip to Vancouver come medical/interview time and would hate to have to shell out more money for more than one night, not to mention missing University. Eeek. Can someone advise? I am a bit worried about the interview scheduling as I am in school and working, and will have exams around the estimated time of my interview based on timelines.

As I understand it, they do interviews on wednesdays as well as other days of the week. My interview is currently scheduled for Tuesday (9th) and I am waiting for confirmation that my med can be done on the next day (10th). I read another person's post that they had their interview the day before the med and it was no problem.

Many people do have the medical the same day as the interview. Medicals are at 630 AM for everyone (but are only done on Wednesdays), and I THINK interviews are scheduled mostly in the afternoon. Not positive on that one. My interview time is 1pm. There was a space on my checklist to request an interview date so if you know you will do your medical that same day, simple request and afternoon interview for that date.

I know what you mean... it is the time off work/school and the cost of travel that is really bumping up the expense of this whole visa/immigration thing. I live in small town MB so it is even a bit of a drive to the closest airport!

The K-unit in Vancouver was very quick to respond to my fax. They were a little abrupt, but quick.

Good luck.

You can do your interview on Tuesday and medical on Wednesday, that's not a problem, we ended up having to do that. The medical in Vancouver used to do them on Thursday's too if needed, but check with them on that first. If you do your interview on Tuesday and med on Wednesday, you'll just have to go back to the consulate after you pick up your results from the med office, and providing its not a day where the consulate is closed. The consulate will give you a notice after your interview so you can get back into the building when you're bringing your results. There will be a ton of people waiting in line to pick up their visas, you can just go right up to the door providing those people haven't started going in yet.

Vancouver is very laid back and friendly, just stay relaxed and have all your documents with you. They don't really need to be in any specific order, but have them organized so they are easy to hand over when prompted. Good luck!!

Thanks to you both. I am a student so I am a bit stressed about having to miss classes for the interview. My teachers don't seem to be overly understanding, regardless of the reason. I will try to request a wed so I will only miss one day of school/work. Otherwise, I will just make do with what I can get.
