Hi All!

There's alot of interviews this month at the Montreal consulate (yay!) mine's next tuesday - and I'm signed up for a DHL pick up in Markham - but I've read that people are getting xpresspost enveloppes as well? What is better - I didn't know the xpresspost was an option. People seem to be getting their visas quickly after they're approved anyway, but I was just wondering what people are doing!

Thanks!

I had my interview today, I picked dhl and after talking to the lady at window 12 I stuck with it. I did bring the prepaid envelope if it was needed. BTW I now have a fully paid for unused expresspost evenople lol .

I would go with dhl as it has been 2-3 days to get your visa, canada post has seemed to get quicker but it still can take 2 weeks or more.

Hi!

I had my interview in Montreal today (approved!!!!) and I went with the DHL thing. I figured that doing what the letter said to do was the best way to go. At the consulate, there were also some people with FedEx envelopes, but that might have been for another type of visa/document. The DHL method seems to be well organized and I am confident that it will work well.

Good luck on your interview!

The problem with DHL is that the nearest office to my husband's house is 2 hours away. That means that after driving to and from Montreal (10 hours each way), he will have to drive another 2 hours each way a few days later to get his paperwork/passport.

Is anyone considering doing the Xpress envolope because of the same reason?

I believe you can return it for refund.

I got an expresspost just in case, but I've signed up for DHL.

However, I'm confused as to whether I've actually signed up. I went to the https://usvisa-info.com/ website and signed up for the Abbotsford DHL office and got a reference ID. Do we print something off and bring it to the interview? The last step on the website was to schedule a date which I did not need to do because I am a cr-1. So I just signed out. Is that how it works??

Hey...

our interview is Nov 2., I/we chose dhl when we booked appt., however I am thinking about bringing an expresspost envelop b/c I would have to drive 1.5 hours to get it...so I am leaning towards doing the express post option...I am in New Brunswick..so coming from Montreal shouldn't take too long...I hope...or should i know better then to assume after this process~! Good Luck all

Thanks! So when you leave your interview do you get a tracking number? Of is your reference ID your tracking number?

No reciept or tracking number, dhl will call you within a few days and you cant track it through the site you signed up through using your passport number etc.

Does anyone know if they are actually phasing out the XpressPost envelope thing? The drive to my closest DHL is an hour and although that's not bad, if my passport can show up my door I'd rather it did. Are you even allowed to do XpressPost anymore?

Jken,

My interview is next month and thinking I'd be prepared, I shelled out the cash for my prepaid Xpresspost envelope in July! I'm also in New Brunswick and don't drive so I'd have to take the 4 hour bus ride to Moncton and then a 4 hour bus ride back! I'd love to know if I can still use my Xpresspost! Please let me know what you find out!!

I know for right now you can use whichever you please but I think due to them now putting it on the p4 letters that they will not be accepting them forever. I think it will be a mandontory thing in the next few months. But i dont know for sure.

There is pros and cons to the new system. It is far quicker then the express post, I interviewed the 20th and recieved the call on the 22nd(Today), so 2 days. However I have to find a drive and drive over an hour to the DHL location.

It sucks to not have it come to the door anymore, but will save time.

This DHL thing bugs me...I realized if I was still living in Nunavut and I wanted to pick up my passport at the nearest location, well there goes $2000 for the flight I would HAVE to take. Not cool. This isn't accessible for everybody.
