Hey guys, I am expecting a Biometrics appointment letter in the mail. Received a text/email notifying me that a RFE has been sent out. I called the USCIS military hotline and was told my fingerprints appointment would be on the 9th Nov.

Now, what I wanna know is - Would I be able to go down to the field office on an earlier date to get my fingerprints taken? I have asked the agent from the USCIS and he encouraged me to do so. Has anyone ever gotten their fingerprints taken earlier than the date on the appointment notice? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

it depends on the office, some take early walk-ins. I guess it also depends on the number of people. but to answer your question yes. My appt. was on 10-14 and i did it on 10-05. even though it seems that it does nothing to speed the process.good luck

No military thing, just a civilian, we have done it, but had the appointment letter in our hand for a later date, seems like that can't do anything without that piece of paper. Kind of noticed that the USCIS operates just like the military did when I was in, runs on paperwork, also tells you when, where, and what to bring without any regard to your personal feelings or schedule. But they did take us early as long as we had our paper and that was just for biometrics.

As dannyh86 said, many offices accept walk-ins and a few do not. Other offices accept walk-ins only if they are not too busy, otherwise they ask you to wait until all the people with appointments are done (that could be hours)! All you can do is go at a convenient, non-busy time (Mondays, Fridays, early or late is not recommended) and ask. Good luck! PS Time and time again we have observed that early biometrics will NOT help the interview being scheduled faster.Oh, and hubby did his biometrics on an early walk-in too.

Our wait was only about ten minutes, would be nice if all you had to do was to deal with the USCIS, but we seem to have other commitments as well, like trying to earn a living for a start. At times, stretched so thin, you think you are going to snap. Wife has to work out her job scheduling this morning, has to be at two different places at the same time. She is good at her job, but not that good.
