Sorry I know I posted this already....Hello all , I am not sure if this is the right forum but here goes...Someone told me that my husband has to speak perfect English at his K-3 interview in Morocco. Is this true? I am fluent in Arabic and was wondring if I should be worried? Should I get a letter notorized affirming that I am fluent in Arabic? Thanks in advance

I don't know if there's such a thing as perfect English in Morocco. Unless a person was speaking it from when they were like at least 12-14 years old. But whoever goes to Casa has to understand what they're saying, that's right. That's probably why you were told that. As far to as your Arabic is conserned, i don't think, they'd care - you're not going there, but your husband is.

I do know they are supposed to offer the intending immigrant the choice of language, normally Arabic, French, and English. I do know of one who asked to have his interview in Italian and they found him a translator..... THAT being said, Atif's interviewing officer asked him how we communicate and when he said in English, she told him "then your interview will be in English" and proceeded with that attitude. Then she did the WHOLE interview in Arabic again after his interview in English. Just kept trying to trip him up--and the translator for the Arabic translated some of his answers wrong and he corrected her in English. [ :P ]

It boils down to the language you use to communicate................that's what it seems to me anyway.

Hope this helps.

You can take it in any language you are comfortable with... my fiance did his in French.

It is vital that the Consulate know and see how you communicate if it is not in English- my fiance and I speak French so we showed lots of emails we had in French to eachother.

Good luck!!!

I would definitely have your fiance bring some examples, whether it be emails or letters, as well as a written explanation by you of how you communicate. If your name is not obviously of Arab origin, I would include how you learned Arabic. The consulate often wants proof on the couple's ability to communicate.

The language he interviews in is a separate issue, and he will be given a choice.

In our case Jamal asked for the interview to be in Arabic...he told the lady who interviewed him that the interview is of a great importance and he wants to make sure the neither he nor her would misunderstand each other...she wanted to interview him in English but he told her that his English was not sufficient...and her French was questionable due to a heavy accent...since we communicate in Spanish all our evidence (e-mails, handwritten letters and cards...etc) so she had enough to see our situation...
