Hi there, new here!

My husband, USC, originally immigrated to Canada but now we have decided to move back to Illinois. I have a daughter from a previous marriage that is not coming with us. We just sent our I-130 package in to the Toronto Consulate but they need a "Affidavit of Non Transmission" for her. I have done a search but do not know what this is. We emailed back asking them if it is a pre-printed form or we just make a simple statement, ALSO, whether it has to be notorized. Any ideas? Once they have this, along with her long BC form, they will make an appointment for us.

Thanks!

I have NO idea; however I would guess it is a similar thing to a "non-accompanying family members declaration" that I found online for those immigrating to Canada. That seems to be a notarized statement saying that you intend to go to America without your daughter, and confirming that you understand that your daughter must meet immigration requirements in her own right if she wishes to join you later.

Although now I found something on the website for the Jerusalem Consulate that uses "non-transmission" to refer to a USC not transmitting their citizenship to their child. Not sure how that would apply in your case as your daughter does not have a USC parent. Will never understand why certain Embassies have their own special terms for certain things!

Thanks, JoannaV. I will certainly look into it. I guess more info for them is better than less so I'll probably get it notarized just in case!
