Okay, We live in Dallas Texas and my fiance has arrived in the US ( 3 weeks now ) do we need to apply for a SSN for her and her son to get married? I have read the site and if we apply first then get married and then turn around and and apply again with the name change. Is this correct?

Anyone know?

I live in Dallas County. We went and got our marriage license at the County Records building and were issued a marriage certificate without my wife having a SSN. I waited until two weeks after my wife and step-daughter arrived in the U. S. before applying for a Social Security Card for my wife. By that time we were already married and didn't have any problems with getting my wife her SSN. We took a copy of our recorded marriage certificate to the Social Security office and my wife was able to get the card issued to her with her married name.
