hello folks,

so this has never happened to me but it happened this time around. The office at the POE, Chicago O'Hare, did not give me the other part of the I94W form. I don't know why or how this has happened, as they usually staple it on the passport. I only realized after I was out of the airport and couldn't go back. Then I called the POE and a lady told me that everything it's ok because I have the stamp on the passport and that I can fill another I94 when I leave at the airport and turn that in instead. Is this correct? It just sounds a bit odd to me since every I94 has a unique code, she reassured me 2-3 times while I kept repeating I was very concerned about it.

I am on a WV for tourism and I plan to apply for an F1 as soon as I go back to Italy in December.

I was reading about form I-102 and also someone told me to go to the Deferred Inspection office in chicago.

What are your thoughts on this?

thanks

I have just found this link https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/752

and this is a bit reassuring

If you departed by a commercial air or sea carrier (airlines or cruise ships), your departure from the U.S. can be independently verified, and it is not necessary to take any further action, although holding on to your outbound (from the U.S.) boarding pass - if you still have it - can help expedite your reentry next time you come back to the United States.

so perhaps she was right and I will hold on to my boarding card.

It has changed, she was right.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
