Do I need a police clearance please read the following information:

Posted in the embassy site too!

Hey sorry everyone I put them in columes but it will not work so when you read you have to read one row all the way down then go to next row...SOrry for the inconvenince

Police Certificates are not availiable for these countries....

Afghanistan, Ghana, Libya, Somalia, Venezuela

Angola, Guatemala, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam

Azerbiajan, Haiti, Mexico, Sudan,

Bangladesh, Honduras, Mongolia, Syria,

Bulgaria, Indonesia, Nepal, Tajikistan,

Cambodia, Iran, Nicaragua, Thailand,

Chad, Iraq, Pakistan, Turkery,

Colombia, Kazakhstan, Saudia Arabia, USA,

Equatorial Guinea, Laos, Sierra Leone, Uzbekistan,

You have to be Physical Present in these countries to get your police certificate and you have to apply in person:

Belarus, Comoros, Kuwait, Rwanda,

Brazil, Cuba, Lebanon, Suriname,

Chile, Ethiopia, Paraguay, Ukraine,

Only through the US Embassy or Consulate Contact the American Consular Office if you currently are, or have been a resident of these countries:

Netherlands

IF your country was not mention in here then you will be able to get your police certificate, without using one of these methods... I am not an immigration officier so if your country is mention please check with your embassy website... I however did get this information off a official K1 - K3 website.... I hope this will help everyone who is searching to see if they need a police clearance good luck everyone!

I don't exactly follow what you are saying.

The Beneficiary does not need a police certificate for the aforementioned countries, because they are not available?

Specifically, the Embassy is looking for a police certificate for all places the Beneficiary has lived. If they lived in or are from one of the listed countries, they are exempt from this requirement?

Please clarify.

For example, my Fiance is from Indonesia, she was able to produce the police certificate with a bit of effort (and money). Usually helps to "grease the skids" in certain countries.

I am the US citizen and my husband who is from Ghana has to get police certificate from there even thought that document you quoted states that it is one of the many countries that does not police certificates available. The best source to rely on would ve to check the requirements from that specific embassy you are going thru ..Good luck! :innocent:

just to add,

I would also advise anybody to ask directly to their consulate regarding which countries they expect police certificates from . The reciprocity table is outdated concerning a country I am required to gain a certificate from, ( Cambodia) stating that it was not possible. Actually it is possible, and is required for all intending emmigrants, and foreigners who are employed while already residing in the country for Embassy/ govt jobs . ( although it is an experience similar to William33's!)

yeah, each consulate is different, our consulate told us to go by the reciprocity table, that is why i posted it, we were not even going to try and get a police report from pakistan because it is supposedly unobtainable, then we looked at the reciprocity table and it says it is obtainable, so thank god they sent us that table, it is going to cost us some money to get it, but at least we won't be sitting in the interview without it. i dont even know how the consulates expect you to get some of these documents from some of these countries, if my fiance didn't have an uncle who still lived in pakistan then we would have been screwed, because you have to have connections in some of these countries to get anything.

With all of that said, each petitioner should use "Due Diligence" in their own particular case.

In other words, call the Embassy/Consulate applicable to your case, to learn what the requirements are with respect to police certificates.

If I have learned nothing else on this site and in my own process, there are no "blanket" answers to every question.

Do your homework and plan for success!!!
