no obviously it wont count as a meeting my question is how they met i.e got to know eachother...as many ppl met online on websites is it important to show proof u met on that site or something...

have not started my visa application, have not decided what route to take, planning my trip to America, and asking questions to see what best route to take . *breathes*.

baf, they dont care HOW you met, wheather it be online, on the phone, through the newspaper or etc, what they care about is if you met IN PERSON, touched, kissed, did the pickle tickle, they are going to want proof of BEING TOGETHER IN PERSON, they dont care what site you met on. its irrelavent. {sp}

if you want to tell them what website you met on, thats perfectly ok, but they are not going to check up on it to make sure the site is legit and you guys were infact on it at the time and date of claiming to have met.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE SITE, PLEASE READ THE GUIDES BEFORE ASKING ALOT OF QUESTIONS. THE GUIDES ARE VERY HELPFUL AND WILL SAVE YOU ALOT OF TIME!

I don't think that's quite true. After reading the new law regarding Marriage Brokers and associated web-sites, they are interested in what site you met on and whether that site complies with certain requirements. Marlene was asked at the interview about the nature of our memberships on the site where we met online and whether there were fees associated with it.

Yes, you must show that you met in person, but how you found each other is not irrelevant.

i was referring to this entry her made: BAF "what if we met online in some penpal site butttttt our accounts got deleted...like we met on the internet but do they look into that site for our names and stuff or just giving them the name of the site is enuff??"

They are not going to go onto the site and research it to see if you have ever had an account there. If they ask about the site that is one thing, if they ask if there were fees thats one thing, but they will not go to the site and try to find you by name and stuff, you could give them ANY name/screen name even if its not yours

Baf: you need pictures of you both together, ANY documents proving youve met IN PERSON!

Pictures are great at establishing that you've met personally (for obvious reasons)

Plane ticket stubs/itineraries are great "circumstantial" evidence that you've met personally (also any sales receipts-esp. credit card purchases-from purchases in the area where your fiance/e lives)

Perhaps notarized letters from friends that can personally attest that they saw you together (along with any necessary translations).

Also you need to establish proof of relationship/intent to marry. My wife and I sent each other many many letters and postcards. Of course we talked and IM'd a lot too, but if I were you I'd start exchanging love letters. Not only do they provide good evidence of relationship, but they're nice for the grandkids!

These letters, etc, will help provide proof of intent to marry as well. Of course engagement ring receipt is good, but also you need a signed statement of intent from your (foreign) fiance/e. My wife sent hers on a postcard!

Good luck.

I did not send a statement of intent with my I-129F application, nor did they ask for one at the interview.
