Hi, I have a question for everybody.

I know that we need police clearances, but in Tabaco they said that they won't give my wife a police clearance because she hasn't lived there for awhile (she lived there when she was 6 years old until she was 17 years old, she's 26 now). But the police in Castilla said that they could still give a police certificate. Would a police certificate still work??? I'm very very confused. Me and my wife will be doing a DCF for a CR visa (married only for a year). Any info you give us would be greatly appreciated. If everything goes well, we're going to start the petition at the end of November :)

All you need is the NBI clearance, unless your SO lived outside the Philippines in a particular country for 6 months or more (except if the country is listed on the reciprocity table and indicates it is not necessary for her to get one).

It is 12 months or longer for the IR-1/CR-1. It says in the instructions that NBI is only needed for the philippines. Make sure to have married and single name on the same certificate. It will look kinda strange it will have a "de" between married & single last names.

he he he

For a moment there, I thought you were talking about some city/town in another country and was momentarily confused that people were saying that you only need an NBI clearance.

Yes, they're right. If your wife has only ever lived in the Philippines, she only needs an NBI clearance. Here's the US embassy Manila-specific requirements: http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3217.html

The NBI covers the whole Philippines which is why your wife only needs that.

Here's how to get an NBI clearance: http://www.nbi.gov.ph/clearance1.htm

Here's where you can find regional NBI offices: http://www.nbi.gov.p...eld_offices.htm. You should call first to confirm the location. Sometimes the field office address on their website isn't current (I know that for a fact when I called one field office and confirmed that the address on the website is old/incorrect.)
