Police Certificate - Mumbai

Ok....we recently just received our NOA2 and are starting to look at what needs to be done. My fiance lived in the States during August 2004 - Sept 2005 (before we got engaged). His passport needed renewal so he went to the Consulate General of India in Chicago to complete this process.

Within Mumbai's consulate web-site the information on Police Certificates states he needs: 1. Police clearance certificate from the passport office that issued your passport and 2. Police clearance certificate from the district police office serving your place of residence.

I read on this same site where he does not need clearance for his stay in the US (Police certificates are not required for periods spent in the United States).

His question is this - since his last passport was issued at the Chicago consulate where does he obtain #1? I have told him I would assume where his passport was originally issued and not Chicago since he does not need any type of certificate for his time in the US.

Has anybody else also experienced this specifically with India/Mumbai?

He is also lucky - he has a friend who is a police officer so obtaining #2 should not be difficult.

Hi hope this will help go to Www.***removed*** then go to fiance visa next go to K1 visa application process click on the consulate embassy and then police certificate it gives you step by step instructions for people from INDIA... Good Luck with Everything
