Just wanted to know if I have a change to fly in to Manila about the same time of my fiancee' interview. Will I be allowed to attend with her and would that benefit us in a perhaps a sucessfull outcome for granting a K1 visa?

My delema is that I have limited vacation time, about 10 days and wanted to save that for when she arrives to help her get settled into the new enviroment and adjusting to her new home, and also the expense of the plane ticket is a factor as I would go in the Dec. the high season.

Another question is she has a 2 year old from a previous relation and I listed the child on my I129 to join in the future but does a young child need to obtain a passport to enter the USA?

First, you will be allowed in but if everything is in order, she shouldn't have any trouble getting approved without you there. If things aren't in order, then even with you there, she will not pass. It would be easier on her with you there in the sense that it takes pressure off of her, but once again, it does not have any effect on the actual outcome. Have things in order and it's a done deal with or without you there.

Second, yes the young child needs a passport, and a visa too.

Good luck, Jimmy.

I attended my fiancee's interview in Manila this past summer. They interviewed us both together, it was no problem, a piece of cake really. We had our paperwork in very good order and I'm sure she would have passed anyway, but it did help her stress level to have me there.

Being at the interview can help things go smoother. Our interviewer didn't even care to look at any proof of my self employment. Since I was there, he just asked me what I do. We still would have passed, but it may have required a longer interview, more questions to be sure about the relationship and my status, etc.

If you have confidence in everything being okay for the interview, it should be fine to save the vacation for more relaxing time together, like when she arrives as you mentioned, and/or maybe a honeymoon ;)

I concur with the other statements that have been posted. I attended my then fiancee's interview in Manila. It went smoothly (the actual interview was probably the shortest part of the process) and I am sure she would have been approved without me there. She appreciated having me there, but she didn't really need me there in order to get approved. In hindsight, I kinda wish I had instead flown there when she was ready to leave so that I could have flown back to the U.S. with her, so that she wouldn't have had to take that long trip alone. IMO, attending the interview I think mainly served to calm her nerves, and probably didn't effect whether she got approved or not. :)

OP, I am in the exact same situation as you.

I only have X amount of days left to take and my choices are:

1). Either fly to Manila and be there with here at the interview BUT then I wouldn't have any extra time to spend with her when to comes to NYC.

or

2). Have all the documents in order & have her go to the interview alone & then I would have the extra time to spend with her when come & help her adjust.

Remember the first couple or days/weeks when she is here in the USA is crucial & I don't think that she should be left alone for too long. So, I may forgo the interview & opt to spend the extra time with her. Also the plane ticket (RT from NYC to Manila) during the holiday season is also a factor.

and also the expense of the plane ticket is a factor as I would go in the Dec. the high season.

Last year the wife paid $900 for a roundtrip ticket from Dallas to Manila in December.

CO will determine if you can attend the actual interview, you can go with her to the Embassy and sit with her thru out the process

Really no need to go if you don't want to mess with it.....

I was able to enter into USEM during my fiance's interview a few years ago. But during the time of the interview, the IO asked me to step outside even before the interview started. LOL.

The interview went well.

When we were at the time, there was about four other fiance's there.

My then fiance, now husband was with me during our interview. He only got 7 days time off. He arrived in Manila on Friday the day before our interview date. Everything went smooth, actually, there's not that much question. I've only been asked the name of petitioner, his work, pictures, how we communicate and where did we meet. He asked consul if they could expedite the release of my visa bec he is taking me with him when he leave on Wed (He got a day to rest on Thursday), he doesn't want to leave me when he goes. The next day of the interview we went back to Cebu and say goodbye to my family then went back to Manila the following day to wait out my visa. Passed 12 noon of Wed we got our visa, so it only took us almost 3 days to get my visa after the interview (Sun doesn't count), and I went to DFA to get my PDOS sticker. Already done with my CFO seminar before so I only need the PDOS sticker. I was out there by 3PM. We check out from our hotel then went to the airport and got me my ticket the same flight as his.

So it's possible to bring your fiancee with you on a 10 days timeframe. And nope my husband is not in Military.

....But yeah, this happens year 2005. So I don't know if it takes longer now.
