Hi VJ fam.

I live on a boarded town and the closest immigration doctor is four hours one way. It would save me a bunch of time and gas money if I simply crossed the boarder. Is this possible?

Thanks.

Great thinking.... You WILL not be able to do your medical in the USA... that would be considered as part of the I-485 packet and USCIS would give your the necessary paper work to do that not the NVC/Counsulate... so with that being said... unfortunately.. you will be required tomake the 4 hour drive... just hoops that immigration throws at us that we gotta hop thru..

Unfortunately not. The only doctors who can conduct your immigration medical are in Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal.

The civil surgeons in the US are qualified to conduct your AOS medical. However, if your K-1 medical is less than 1 year old at the time of AOS, you are not required to have another medical done.

A lot of people wait until they have an interview date, and then coordinate their medical with their interview time. So if it's possible to spend a few extra days in Montreal, you can have it done at the same time and avoid a trip.

I agree could you arrange to get to montreal a few days early? and then you could do your medical the same week as your interview.

I dont think the said option above is possible. The medial is typically done at least 10 days prior to the Interview.....so that the medical facility have time to test the solution/findings etc and for the applicant to pick up the results or info me fwd to the embassy/consulate. Unless the OP wants to stay in a hotel for 10+ days which might become costly.. if there's a friend there then yes.. I'm all for it!

I think a lot of people schedule their medical & interview within a few days, at least with Montreal.

That maybe true.. with Canada being a very advanced country. The medical could be done a few days prior and the physician would give the applicant a sealed envelope.

I am concerned about the waiting list for the exam. I was going to call and schedule the exam since we SHOULD be receiving our NOA2 in a week or so. Am I jumping the gun here? I would rather have it out of the way as apposed to waiting until the last couple days prior to the interview.

What date are you going to schedule the medical interview for..? You will not be able to do the interview without the Appointment letter... I think the medical review from Canada is valid for 6 months.

We applied for the K1 visa, and according to the K1 flow chart, I will need an exam in Toronto. We just replied to an RFE that we overlooked (paper work). We are guessing that we will be receiving our NOA2 in the next two weeks.

I live in Windsor, so traveling to Toronto or Montreal is good hike. I was just wondering if I can in fact get the medical exam booked ahead of the notice from the US consulate. Like Ricardo4eva2 said, perhaps the exam is good for six months.

To see a specialist here in Windsor, the appointment wait times are up too six months. I'd rather get the exam out of the way.

Anyones thoughts are welcomed and appreciated.

You will need to have an appointment letter to get your medical done and that will be a little while from now. Yes medicals are vaild for 1 year I believe but you will want to use this medical for your aos as well so It is actually better to wait in my mind. In toronto and montreal they have 2 day service for medicals which is why I suggusted doing this on the same week of the Interview. As for how busy they are, Well I was booked for less then two weeks after I called and that was toronto. They are usually able to squeeze you in somewhere, however that is at the moment they could get busy soon.

Good luck

You can only book your medical with one of the doctors approved by the immigration officials and you absolutely need to show your appt letter at the time of your medical.
